Im trying to find out if there is a market in Big Brakes. Realistically, what would you pay for HIGH Quality big brakes.

Lets say the kit is a front and rear kit with 4 pots.

 

I wanna stick Brembos on just for a laugh, but its so pricey, I'll have to stencil it on instead...

 

a better way to save some money would be to get some cross drilled or slotted rotors. a big brake upgrade is something that is not necessary for the scion line. they do look damn good though when they sit behind some nice rims.

 

Realistically, I would hope no one offers big brake kits for both front and rear and not offer it with an upgraded brake master (and perhaps booster, if needed) and proportioning valve. There's too many shanky big brake kits that just bolt on but don't account for the need to upgrade those other components, and they drive horrible, and, in all honesty, are a danger to run because in most cases, the cars stop worse than with a well-functioning oem brake setup.

 

Rear disc brake conversion kits available yet?

 

I've actually asked Teddy while he's in Japan to look into the Vitz Turbo RS. I think that since it's more of a sporty car, you'd think it *should* have better brakes, not to mention disc rears...it could be an option.

 

Im wondering how much it would cost to get a full body wax on a Tuesday night... did I just type that aloud, how ummmmm , I meant I wonder how much we'd benefit from getting rear disc brakes, the brakes seem pretty decent...

 

Oh no problem, this massage parlor I frequent does a full body wax for ummm....I mean, big brake kits will literally run you at least a good $1200 for a decent kit...regardless, I'd be happy to just slap on some TRD kit ($$$$) or just take the brake kit off another Toyota.

Hmm...anyone know if the Co-ro-ra (thats Corolla in JDM Speak) S has rear disc brakes?

 

unless you are running forced induction of some sort, big brake kits really don't make sense. most kits out there are more for show that go (or stop) and add even more weight. resist the tempation and instead find a quality rotor with forged aluminum calipers.
right now, i am trying to find out if some of the lightweight brake kits being offered for the Miata could work for the Scions. from experience, goodwinracing's brake kit is phenomenal.

The Vitz Turbo RS' brake setup would probably be the best all-in-one brake upgrade since it's designed to work together from the factory, and since it's OEM, you know it's quality stuff. The Turbo RS has got larger vented rotors up front, and rear solid rotors in the back.

First post and guess what, its a brake related post. I just got done setting up all our cars for SEMA and in the middle of all of this, brought up the fact that I m getting a Scion to my Wilwood guy and he told me that they have a new front kit that is being released early next month. Its not going to be the 6 pot like we are seeing on the SEMA cars but instead they are going with the forged superlite 4 pot. Its a good thing because they will be less expensive.

They did tell me they are making a new caliper with a mechanical e brake attatched to it so you know what that means. I ll be making a rear kit as soon as its available

 

talked to owner off blue xb that was at sema last year. he ahs wilwood kit on his
says it has saved his ___ at least twice so im sold and as stillen say

Nice car brother. What size wheel and what offset are you running? I noticed you have a 3mm spacer as well.

Anyhow, that rear kit it not going to be available to the public. It is a track/show piece only as it does not incorporate an emergency brake. But i guess you already know that

Yes, I am new. Take it easy on us in the cold, we just got them here. I'm searching for an answer on the rear disk kit. Can't seem to find one. (one that would include E-Brake would be the only worth while.) I know the brakes work well, but I'm not sure I could send the wife out in nice rims (when all this snow melts) and still respect her if it's showing those dinky little drums.

2nd question: why do car manf.'s still make drum brakes?
