Default 225/50-15 on 15x7, anybody rubbing?

Next set of mods on my box are going to include 15x7 kosei wheels with 225/50-15 tires but I haven't heard of anybody running this combo. They look great on miata's, BMW's etc. Hoping for good handling and good ride. Anybody hear of a Box with these shoes?

very wide. and stock suspension offers neither good handling or good ride.

I recall someone who had a set of 15x8 wheels running the 225-50-15's ... They look extra meaty ..... You may have to search for that thread though.

Set it up with aftermarket suspension pieces and you should be ready to take some corners.

on a 8 '' rim...at a stock height.....it shouldnt rub..but I have an lowered xA and the do rub...but it really depends on the offset...

But TJ is right there are a lot of xB's using this setup...but the ones who dont rub use stock tires.(185.60.15).

I would personally recommend a 195.50 or 205.50 and a 32 offset for the rear to not rub....on a 15" rim...my 2 cents.

Default I'm pretty sure that they'll fit if............

I'm running 205/55-15 tires on some 15" x 6.5" +38 mm offset wheels. At full lock u-turns, I get no rubbing. I've had someone turn the steering wheel all the way to the left & right & I've stuck my finger in to see how much clearance there is in between the tire & wheel well. It seems like there is still a lot of room left. I've also taken a look at the suspension clearance between the tire & strut as well. There seems to be about 2 inches or so of clearance. I'm at stock height. It seems like you could easily run 225/50-15 tires on a box. A 205/55-15 tire & a 225/50-15 tire have the same diameter. The only difference is the width. The diameter for the stock 185/60-15 tires is 301.5mm & the 205/55-15 & 225/50-15 tires are 303mm, so your speedometer & odometer will be accurate. You can see what I mean by going here.

I say you try them out. If you do get any kind of rubbing, it will only be during u-turns or in the rear fender. Now, this is provided that you stay within a reasonable offset (+30 to +40, stock offset is +38mm). If you go any lower in offset, they will stick out of the car & if you go any higher, they'll rub into the wheel well & suspension. If you lower the car, you should still be OK. This is provided that you're not planning to lower the car to the point of scraping the ground! Hahaha! (^o^ )

There are a lot of people running 225/40 or 225/35 tires, but on 18" & 19" wheels & a lot of them don't seem to have rubbing issues, so I don't see why you would have rubbing issues with a tire that has the same overal diameter as stock.

By the way, there are some very nice r-compounds (Toyo Proxies RA-1), summer tires (Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212), & all weather tires (Falken Ziex ZE-512) in this size too! Hope this helps! ( ^o^) <3

I have a 205/50/15 on my 15x7's. I would say that is your best bet, fills the wheel well nicely and they ride very well.
