Default What Springs?

Never lowered any of my cars before... mostly cos the roads here are rubbish. So here's a couple of questions for ya...

1) Does lowering the car mean i must buy both new springs and shocks? Or can i just change springs without being silly.

2) Which ones should i go for? there's loads on the market... whats my best option?

3) I saw a set on a website that said they were for both the toyota echo or the xA.... meaning it uses the same springs as a yaris, so i can buy a set for a yaris and they'd fit on my IST?

1) You can by either springs. Or springs and shocks.

2) If the roads are bad where you live, you may want to keep a subtle drop (1"-1.5") Check out TRD, Hotchkis, Tanabe NF210 or Tein H-Tech.

3) I believe the springs are all the same. Any of the above listed springs have apps for xA only.

best of luck

If you want the smoothest ride and about a 1" to 1.5" drop get Tein H-Techs. If you want a 2" drop get Tein S-Techs.

Those are the more mild of a drop springs that Tanabe offers. I suggested them above. They would be less of a drop than the DF210.

The H-Tech by Tein would be in the same boat as the NF210 fwiw. And TRD as well. If you don't want to drop it more than an inch, try one of those.

IMO, considering your bad roads stick with the TRD and H-Techs. Anything more you'll run the risk of damage. Leave the shocks and struts till they wear out.
Yes, we are all on the same platform so all those applications work on the xA.

Echo should fit, I'm not sure about the Vitz. Don't worry about that, you can find springs easily for the xA. I've got the TRD springs, and it's a nice modest drop and handles better, and won't be bad on your rubbish roads.

They should physically fit because if the platform. Wether they are the right rate for the xA is the question. The echo and xA are about the same weight and should be close enough to the Yaris weight also. Don't quote me on that though.
