Toyota Motor Corp. said Friday that it is keeping U.S. Corolla prices almost flat for the 2007 model year despite rising material and energy costs. Analysts say Japan's No. 1 automaker may be fearful of yielding market share to low-cost Asian rivals.

The $100 sticker-price increases, well below the rate of inflation, come as Toyota's share of the American market continues to grow, mainly at the expense of U.S. firms General Motors, Ford and the Chrysler Group of DaimlerChrysler AG.
The average Corolla price will increase 0.6 percent, Toyota Motor Sales USA said in a news release from its Torrance, Calif., headquarters.
Base prices will range from $14,205 to $16,215.

Makes sense, they have to keep up because they didn't change the style.

Why change anything, Corollas are selling like hotcakes. I will say flat out they are boring but they are well built, get great mpg and will go 200k with very low maintenence cost. If they keep the price low it could bring in even more new toyota customers.

define well built. my girlfriend's 03 corolla has the fake chrome peeling off the door handles, plastic warping out of shape around the stereo, and vinyl from the doors coming undone when you close the windows (to name a few).

i think toyota's quality is deteriorating. her car isn't the only example i have to offer. a sensor issue left my neighbor stranded on the freeway after her corolla shut off (car 1 week old), and my other friend's corolla was locking up the brakes due to a defective master cylinder (car 3 days old).

i wont deny that toyota sells like hotcakes, but they're starting to sell some crappy ones.

We are outselling Civic by 20%, and they even had a re-design. It's a great position to be in - older car, still popular, and another year to tweak the replacement.

And we're nearly out here, too. And they are selling for full sticker.

FYI, the XRS is NO MORE for the 07 model year.

Did they even sell any of those? I haven't seen a single one out there.

We sold like 4 here in the last year and a half.

It is a pretty fun car, but you gotta drive it like you stole it for it to be much fun at all. Plus, while the suspension handles well, it's ride is not that great. Great tranny and brakes, though.
