lowering xb's
every single thread that I know of that talks about lowering also says that you must align.
any time you touch anything in the suspension, you would be wise to align. otherwise, you're putting undue wear on your suspension parts and tires.

i'll go against everyone here.
if you don't fubar stuff. and are just doing drop springs you do not NEED an alignment. you could get one. but your alignment will more than likely be close to if not 100% in the green for all specs.
I've lowered more than 40 xB's and have never had a custoer come back with tire wear even 2 years later.
i had mine for lik 37 thousand miles and my tires never got messed up . the garbage **** oe goodyears still have a bit of tread left on em. that's pretty long for those tires on out cars.
after the first time i lowered my own car i went to alignment and every single spec was in the green.
only time i've had it aligned since was after installing my camber adjustable coilovers.
oh and wherever that carges 50 bucks must be nice. cheapest i've ever seen was 59.99 or something like that and it was 2 wheel.
most places charge about 75 for 4 wheel but do not offer 2 wheel.
cause the rear is static as far as adjustemnt goes so there's NO NEED at all for the rear alignment.

I just droped mine today with stech and the only thing of was the toe. It went from 1/8" toe in to 1/8" toe out. A small adjustment on the tie rods and It was good. I still recomend getting a good alignment.
On mine the toe was out slightly. Was it enough to cause tire wear or even handling differences?? Who knows. I figure it is money well spent just to be sure. Here in Atlanta 2 wheel alignments are about $50-$60....a good place will reference the rear anyway. The rear of xB has no adjustment so a 4wheel alignment is a rip off. If they only have 4 wheel available I guess they have decided it is fair to charge for it even if they are only doing 2 wheels and they are screwing people with front only adjustable suspensions.
Sorry this has nothing to do with the post, but everyone has already answered your question. No need throw my repetitive answer in there.

most places will check it for a small fee and some do it for free. If you are getting springs, its usually alright but each car is different with regards to tolarances with lowering. Ive lowered about 15 xBs. I just tell people to at least get it checked. If I put coilovers on their car I always say they should get it checked because it will usually need an alignment after more than 2 inches of drop. Coilovers can also have different geometry in the strut which affects alignment.
