Hi everyone, my tires rub in front, and they aren't even at full lock... What can I do to fix this? I was told that this set up would fit perfectly because they were designed for a scion...(www.5zigenusa.com.)

Springs: Hotchkis
Wheels: 5Zigen Hyper 5ZR (18"x7.5" +35mm)
Tires: Falken GRBeta (215-40-1

Do I need to roll fenders? Spacers? How do I figure out whats rubbing? How do I fix it? Please help! Thanks everyone!

 

It is rubbing on the plastic fenderwell lining. I know trimming it will fix it, but I don't want to have to trim it if I don't have to.

I wonder if moving the wheels out a little further will work...I've got some 3 mm spacers somewhere...

 

Hey, they offset sounds OK... But you have 215/40/18 tires??

I think you should of gone for 215/35/18, That might of helped, sinceis closer to the factory height

u shoulda DEFIANTLY got 215/35..
but now u should just roll your fenders as much as u can..

u can heat the edge up and bang it with a hammer..
i just recently rolled my buddies xB and he has no more rubbing probz

 

I fixed the rubbing. It was so easy. I just took a set of clippers and cut out a piece of plastic about 2" long, and about 1/4" wide from the inside of the fender lining.

NO fender banging or anything of that sort. Now I get a really nice ride because of all the extra rubber, and it fills out my wheel well much nicer than a 205/40 or 215/35 would have. I like it.

 

your speedo's gonna say you're doing 35 and you'll get pulled over for going 86.

 

i've got 215/40/18 and tein s-tech springs and they don't rub on the fender lining at all. only if i turn the wheel all the way, but thats an easy fix.

 

Yeah, mine used to rub when turned all the way, but not any more. It took me 10 minutes to pull the wheels off, and clip the plastic. No damage done, and you'd never know the difference.

The difference for the speedometer should be about +4%. 35 to 86 might be a slight exageration... ;)

 

Banging new car fenders with a hammer, tisk , tisk. THat sounds so ricey. you guys need to be more resourceful and get them rolled professionally. My coworker did that to his Galant in the back and they look like hell. He later went and got them rerolled and it looks a little better. Do it right the first time by either rolling them of cutting out the excess.

 

 

If I remember right, its only a 4% difference.
