OK I will post pics tomorrow to show exactly what I am talking about but I wanted to get this post up for some feedback til then.

I have a 2006 xA... not sure if the year makes a difference but just in case.
The stamping in the inside of the wheels reads 18x7.5J and ET+40+45
The tires are Bravuris 225/40R 18 92W
My ride has been dropped on Tanabe DF210 springs... I think they gave me about a 2" drop.

OK so I first ran into a problem with the offset being to small I guess so I bought some H&R spacers (which btw gives my ride such a nice wide stance) to help compensate for that. The problem I have now is on the front ONLY. When I turn the steering all the way to the left the the side of the (driver side) tire closest to the rear rubs on the inside plastic wheel well. There is no way I can drive like this as you will see when I upload the pics.

In addition to this problem it also seems there is just not much clearance around the tires. I kinda think if I had my car loaded with 4 people... the top portion of the tires may rub also.

I got such a great deal on this used rim and tire set I could not pass it up... but I'm thinking now they may just be too big for my car.

Any help on this whole thing would be MUCH appreciated!!!

You have to big of a tire. You should be running a 215/35/18 or 215/40/18

 

the plastic can be cut depending on which part you're rubbing against. Search the forum for someone who's cut it already, see if it helps.
fenders can be rolled to clear the tires.

 

Tires are too big. Thats your basic problem as stated above. 215/35/18 is perfect. Try that next...

 

My wheels are 18X7.5 42MM offset and are fine, BUT, As others have stated the tires you have are too big. Mine are 215/40/18 they are as big as will go without problems as far as I can tell. The 215/35/18 would give even more clearance.

 

OK so I just got back from the tire shop and the salesman kinda scared me outta buyin the 215/35's He said stuff about having a blowout easy with so little sidewall of the steel belt busting. Also he said if I hit a big enough bump with so littlew tire I could damage my rims VERY easy.

OK so do I got with 215/40's?? My wheelwells are just so damn tight I am really afraid I need all the room I can get... thats why I was set on the 215/35's

UGH I am sooooooo undecided now.. Maybe I shoulda went with 17" rims after dropping my ride 2 damn inches :-(

IDEAS anyone???

 

I would say to just go with 17" inches, they're plenty big and will actually fit your car.

you should be fine with 215/40. personally, i hated my 215/35's. they were way too rough. you should be fine with 40's. also, rolling your fenders would definately help but you might now have to so wait till you can get some new tires and see what happens.
