I just busted out laughing at work when I saw that thing hop over that curb. That video looks really old (80s maybe 90s) I wonder what happened to their idea?

 

best part of the video is when the car jumps that thing in the road.

 

rally cars have this type of suspension
it uses an electromagnetic fluid (metal particles in fluid suspension) and adjusts the magnetic field around them to change dampening
this looks a little different though
the "no ride height change" is a little weird??

I have an article of this in an OLD motor trend magazine, same lexus LS(new at the time)... I heard cadillac was going to have this sometime soon.

alot of newer cars use an electromagnetic suspension system. i.e. mercedes, bmw, etc.

but they dont absorb bumps like that maybe its because you need a large amount of wheel gap to utilize that system. notice how they dont put the suspension on a porche which has a significantly lower stance than the last generation ls

GM debuted it with the 50th anniversary Corvette, IIRC. But now it's used in a some of the high-end GM cars; Cadillacs, and I think the C6 uses it - at least as an option.
