Default A few Questions About Tower Strut Bar

I am looking to do some of my first mods and I was thinking definately the Strut Bar to Give the White Box better Handling. I was just curious if anything would be messed with after this modification just out of curiosity, like wheel alignment?, I doubt it though . I am looking around at all of the strut bars and the DC one shown in the tech department seems to catch my eye. I would lower my car but that definately is not a good idea with the streets here over in New York. After installation is there dramatic positive/ negative effects ?

Ok, this is answered pretty simply.

Our strut towers are integral with the firewall which meens essentially they are pretty strong to begin with with minimal flex. You will notice some improved handling at higher speeds or when you are REALLY pushing your box, but overall it does not do much to reduce body roll.

If you want to lower your car, the TRD springs are cold rolled steel and VERY high quality. They also only drop your box 1.2" which I am sure wouldnt be enough to do any damage on the streets of New York. (I live in MA, and my town is NOTHING but pothles)

If i may make a suggestion you should install the rear sway bar before anything. It will make a world of difference in handling and body roll illimination

If you need anything shoot me a PM

Ditto. If you want to make a difference other than look sway bar is the way to go. The front strut bar does very little for handling (barely perceptible) but they look cool Sway bar (rear for sure) or sway bar set make a real difference. The Hotchkis set (front and rear) I installed made a very big difference indeed...at first it scared my cause it turned so quickly with steering input, but I got used to them and really like how planted it feels now!! I agree that going low (more than an inch or so anyway) on NYC streets may not be the best idea I have been there many times and that is a warzone for cars!![/i]

I have the TRD Springs, Sway Bar, and Strut Bar. I had the Springs and Strut Bar installed when I picked up my car. I thought the car handled well.

I knew the Strut Bar was more for show, so i chose the TRD because I loved the seksiness of the the TRD red against the Polar White.

I later had the TRD Sway installed (it was on backorder) and it made a noticable difference. I could enter turns at higher speeds and push out of them (at least as much pushing that a box can do).

I love my setup but it is on the pricey side since its TRD.

I say TRD all day long. Weld it in place too, then you will be straight for life

Easy install for the rear sway. Pretty simple. It will make a large difference. For some awesome JDMness check out the C-One rear sway setup. It crushes all other sway bars....

It's AMAZING all the miss information there is in this thread.
First off the front strut bar does do a lot to keep the front strut mounting spots from flexing. It does nothing for sway control tho. That is what the front swaybar is for
Second, NEVER weld anything to anything in the suspension. The rear bars come with hardware to bolt them in place.

What does the C-One rear swaybar have or do that the Progress,TRD or Whiteline doesn't?

The C-One bar is a full rear suspension setup basically. The swaybar mounts to extensions that run down the frame rail for a bit. Its reall the best sway bar setup around but its incredibly hard to find and expensive....

...its so hard to find I cant find a pic of it. I know its been on this forum before and its been on clubxb but since the search is so effective on both I cant find it again.

Sounds complicated. I like my White line bar and for the street the TRD/Progress and Whiteline should serve 95% of the people fine.
