Default Whats wrong with my ride? Suspension feels so bad

Ok I have progress coilovers on my ride
Cusco Front Camber Plates
OTG rear Shims
Stock Tires

The front is raised 2 1/2 inches and rides beautifully.

The rear is raised completely and rides horribly.

I think I have way to much weight in the rear of the car.

I have a fully fiberglass system and spare tire plus all the added weight from doing the rear suicide doors.

I need a rear spring that will work on the coil or a lowering spring that will give me a slight drop with so much weight in the rear

I can barely drive in the rain it feels like the rear is sliding out from side to side.

Any ideas of what I can get to make my ride alot better?
(total weight in trunk at least 150-200lbs )

Thanks James

Can you even get to the spare tire? If not, I'd take it out. Every little bit counts, right? What size rims are those? Look a little wide for the stock tires.

Trunk was made for the spare tire to fit in the center, Im on the stock wheels right now. Those are 15x8 and the rides a little better with them on.

When you say it rides horribly, what do you mean? Is it super bouncy?

With the rear raised all the way up, is it severely compressing the progress spring?

The spring rate is pretty low on the Progress Coilovers. 200 lbs./in. in the front and 180 lbs./in. in the rear. This would be fine for a stock xB, but if you have a heavy load (like your sub enclosure) you could easily be overtaxing the springs.

The way I look at it you have a few different options. First, try contacting Progress and see if they will sell you a set of rear springs for the coilpvers with a higher spring rate. Probably closer to 225-250 lbs./in. They could probably work with you on the ideal rate based on the load you have back there.

You could also consider getting a set of lowering springs, and only using the rears. Megan if you want to go cheap, or Eibach Sportline if you want to spend a bit more. The Megan have a higher spring rate, and the Sportlines are progressive. The progressive rate springs may not help as much with the ride, but they may settle better to match the front ride height.

You could order a different set of coilovers all together. Maybe something like the K Sport that allow you to choose custom spring rates if you desire. You could probably order them with something like a 4.5kg front and 4.0 kg rear. It might ride a little rougher in the front than your progress, but the rears should be better.

And lastly, you could go back to air. The nice thing is, you might only need a rear kit. You could probably be out the door for under $500. Bags, brackets, 4 valves, compressor and tank.

Hope that helps.

The ride is bad from the wiehgt im sure. I get alot of sway when i hit bumps so bad that im actually jerking in my seat. I also cant really drive in the rain i feel like im going to crash.

The sping is compressed almost completely which Im sure is the cause of some of the ride. I need a very low drop which is my problem becuase the Shine Street Kit lowers the car way to much.

I would go back to airride but kinda getting away from the air. I drove around with the rear on airride and it was a fine ride just not what Im looking for anymore.

With the spring heavily compressed it will ride like crapola. No doubt about it you need a stonger spring. A small drop rear spring might work. You might also be able to find some rear assist bags (air) to put inside the rear springs cheap and shouldn't take you totally to an air feel ride...you also really need no control for these tire type valves and checking every now and then. I am not sure of availability for springs our size, but I have used them on full size vehicles before with good result.
