Default Autozone Tuner lugs?

Are those Autozone tuner lugs any good?

What can go wrong with these if they aren't?

if you are referring to the "dorman" lugs (if i remember right), i have them on my camry.

my previous wheel locks (not dorman) came with the rims, and werent very good. the key broke a year later, and damaging measures were taken to remove the locks. these locks had male lugs and a female key.

personally, i would prefer a male key and female lug nut (which is the dorman). meaning, the lock is like a cylinder (almost like a socket) and the key goes inside.

only problem i have with these is the rust. otherwise ive had no issues.

i would get something more reputable though, if your rims are super expensive. mcgard is supposed to be good

Thanks for the reference. I ordered wheels from Discount Tire but didn't get their lugs. I figured thats how the get a few more bucks out of you with cheapies but I really don't know.

Anyway Mcgard looks great.

yea, mcgard also makes spline drive lugs, which are designed NOT to make those scratch marks in your lugholes. i dont know what the design is called exactly, but the top half spins independently from bottom of the nut, so the bottom does not spin and scrape the finish.

[i think thats how those work...]

I think the ebay thread above is spline, too.

These tuner lugs are the high end two piece spline drive style. When you torque these lugs down, the seat does not spin, just the threads do. This assures the lug seat doesn't grind into the wheel. Very nice. If you can afford these lug nuts, shop no further. These tuner lugs are gauranteed through McGard forever!!!! This is the last set you will buy.

Anyone know of any national chains that sell these McGards or do you have to buy them online somewhere?

apparently ebay has good deals for them... i would go there. otherwise, ive never seen them in any national chain stores, but i did happen to see some spline-drive lugs made by dorman at my local autozone. again, this is the same brand of wheel lock that i have on my camry, and the inside is beginning to rust (nothing broken though). im not sure dorman would be as good as mcgard.
