Default Whistling noise from steering wheel.

Okay, so every once in a while, when I cut the wheel, I hear a sort of high pitch whistle. It's not when the wheel is at full cut, only as I turn it a 1/4 or so. And it doesn't sound like a steering fluid problem. It's intermittent, and I'm not really concerned about it, but I figured I'd ask. I did springs a couple weeks ago, and I was thinking that might be causing it.

Any thoughts?

Anyone?

The noise only happens when I cut the wheel to the right.
I'll probably take it in, but I don't want to worry about them trying to blame the springs.

Besides the strut bearings going bad, there's not much suspension-related that's going to make any noise when you turn the wheel. Is it a belt squealing?

The struts only have 7K on them. So yea, I don't know what's going on. Any other thoughts?

I work at a dealership and every once in a while we get customers complaining about this exact problem. Sounds to me like you might have a "noisy" clockspring, right behind the airbag, just under the steering wheel.
This is a guess but I don't work on Toyotas, so again...just a guess.

Btw, are you talking about the inside or outside of the car?

I can hear it from the inside, it's hard to tell if it's louder on the outside.

So I figured it out yesterday... I pulled the left front wheel and sure enough, the metal shield behind the brake rotor was bent back... probably from resetting the strut during the spring install. I bent it back in line and I haven't heard a noise since.
