Default Question regarding Air suspension install

I am looking at buying and installing air suspension on my XB. The question I have does the compressor have to be mounted inside of the cab, or can I mount it underneath? I don't want to have the tanks or compressor mounted in the cab. I have seen these mounted on body dropped mini's w/4 links and such, and many times, a majority of the bed is cutout. Any help you can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks,

TN_Toaster

My system is mostly all under the car. The tank I got from Air Ride Technologies is a long 3 gallon tank (Firestone 3 gallon type tank). I used the Level Pro system #ART4000L shown on this page http://www.ridetech.com/productinfo/levelpro.asp The tank Pictured will fit mounted under the rear crossways just forward of the rear body panel....3 gallons is a minimal amount of air storage. I plan to eventually move my evaporatoin box assembly to make space for a second 3 gallon tank just forward of the one I have. The Compressor (I had them substitute a Viar 460) I mounted on a steel bracket that I fabricated. The bracket attaches to the rear body panel so that the compressor sits out under the bumper reinforcement bar to the left of center just left of the jack point. My valves were short enough to mount inside the car under the spare area in the hole left when you remove the silly round plastic plug filler thingy in there. NOTE: I have a subwoofer box over my spare space which may allow a little more clearance than the spare ...which I do not carry......look at this area if your stuff will fit there is is a super place to put it. There are 2 rubber plugs leading in to the rear deck floor under the plastic filler that I removed and ran all my wiring and lines in thru. I had to enlarge these holes in the deck to fit all I needed to pass inside, my local hardware supplied adequate grommets for my new holes (sealed it all with clear silicon). NOTE: I also found that with the plastic filler removed that my bass did not hit as hard ...sounded a bit hollow....we stuffed the empty space around the Air valve assembly and check valve and the miriad of lines with polly fill like you might use inside a subwoofer and that fixed that problem. Hope this helps.

I used these struts http://www.easystreetair.com/index.a...ROD&ProdID=590 and these rear bags http://www.easystreetair.com/index.a...ROD&ProdID=591 all plumbed with 1/4 inch airline for slow accurate auto-leveling. The auto level feature of the Air-Ride control system returns the car to within 1/8" of my measured riding (alignment) height nearly every time (works better coming down for this rather than going up).

Here is a couple pics of my ride:

No air in there

depends on the weather conditons that you will be driving in also, most of the compressors are water resistand but not water proof, should be fine outside if you only drive it on nice days but if its a allweather car and may see snow them its best to put them inside, i had mine outside but then i moved it in to help with this problem, its my daily drive no matter the weather

Mine is driven daily also. The way I made the compressor bracket it is pretty well protected. Not going to get direct water blasted on it for sure. My air intake is remote also. I put my intake filter inside the left 1/4 panel behind the access door to the left tail lamp.

I have a setup that sits under the back as well. I didn't want to give up any grocery room.
