I had to go back to stock as my monroes were to soft and between the 501 and my drop, I was rubbing. I have already rolled fenders and now I have no rubbing all good there....

but after replacing the stock shocks I am getting what sounds like the shock is either loose on one side or maybe too tight, just sort of making a metal on metal sound???

Two questions:

Is it posible that I may have put the shock backwards ? Is there an easy way to tell? Maybe not sitting right??

How tight should the two top bolts be on the shock?

Any help would be great, there is already enough road noise in these thin boxes...

 

It would help to know if you are talking about struts or shocks. The installation of the shocks is so simple that I suspect you are referring to struts, where more can go wrong.
The SensaTrac shocks that I have are certainly not soft. They match the OEM Tokico struts, giving a balanced and firm ride.

 

Actually it was the rear shocks. Maybe soft was not the right term, but they defintely traveled more than stock seems to. I have been trying to determine if I am hearing noise from where the shock attaches or something else. Its hard to tell because road noise is already wo music..
