Has anyone ever taken there trim to get powder coated ? Or recommend it ? Bc I really don't want to go through all this hard work & then have it start flaking or peeling
|
I may be wrong but I don't think you can powder coat plastic. It would melt in the baking process. Typically powder coating is only done on metal. You could always have a body/paint shop paint them, it would look a lot better than the color matched duplicolor rattle cans

I took off my interior cluster trim. Ended up breaking one clasp on each cluster trim. Not too concerned about it but going to see how well it goes back on lol, I think itll be okay.. :/

I paid $150 plus shipping both ways. All the silver pieces in the interior were painted by NIA kits.

Does you think you could do this write up but with the rear part? Like the side speaker panels and trunk?

Fantastic writeup. Thank you!!!!
I've been wanting to take the top of the dash off and I was wondering where the airbag deployed as I want to cover/wrap the top of the dash with something like DI NOC. After looking at this I'm still wondering where the passenger airbag deploys. Does anyone know for sure exactly where/how it comes out? Thanks again for the great write up. |
has anybody done the interior in a dark gold/ bronze color? kinda debating to do this...:ponder:

So, my question is: After removing all the silver trim, can you drive the car safely without a dash, steering wheel cover, etc? I do not want to paint my pieces myself, so I am worried about turnaround time.

silver trim as in....steering wheel, hvac, door handle, shifter trim, gauge cluster trim...u should be fine. I would put some painters tape in the streering wheel areas just to cover up any loose wires and/or hold up the radio buttons temporarily
but if your going as far as removing the vent trims, i'm not sure since you need to take the whole top of the dash off. I suppose if you take off the dash, remove the trim, then reinstall the dash without the trim it should be fine. but that's A LOT of working. especially when u factor in having to do it again to reinstall |
Hey all -
Pretty new to painting anything besides interior of homes...just looking for some feedback and/or advice. I took off both side trim pieces of the doors and used Krylon Fusion (3 coats) and 2 coats of ACE clear coat. After letting it dry for 2 hours, I picked them up and brought them inside. I noticed that I pressed too hard on one of the pieces and the paint moved. Should I let the pieces dry longer than 2 hours before handling and reinstalling? Or do I need to use something different? Thanks in advance! |
