Here are some more pics of the install. I just did my install w/ my friend a few hours ago. In the OP's first part it says to take the rubber ring off and dont reuse the tip, I reused the tip. Also, I cut less off of that white/tan cap so it would stay stronger - it snapped in very snug after dremel'ng the top of the new pump (there is a small bezel/lip on the pump so i cut/sanded it flat) so I did not zip tie the pump - it pretty much fit OEM so I was very happy. Good job original poster - I just wanted to add more pics so guys can perform this upgrade. Also guys, look in my third picture, there is a silver clip in the middle of the pump. Make sure you take that off the old pump and put it onto the new pump so that piece stays secure.

Also, I circled two of the 4 pieces I cut clean w/ the pump and sanded down - The other two are hidden by the housing but they are under that tan cover. If you dont cut them that top tan piece will not snap shut. Between cutting them clean and also dremel'ng a bigger hole in the tan piece (like the OP did but smaller), as talked about above, the tan piece will snap back on and fit very nice:

fuel delivery efficiency - when upgrading your injectors (a lot more then stock) its good to make sure your fuel pump is able to keep up. I will be putting 550 injectors on my car in a few weeks and for $110(ish) for the walbro, its nice to have piece of mind. This is a generic pump that fits pretty easily if you look at my pics and the OP's pics. Dremmel down that top lip on the new fuel pump before even doing the install. Make sure that 4 piece lip is flat with the pump top (that slim white part). I had to keep snapping and unsnapping that yellowish/tan top on and off of the housing because the new pump was 1/8th inch from allowing it to snap shut. Also, you dont need to cut as much off that yellowish/tan top (look at my pic) if you dremmel the pump. mine snaps together just like the OEM which is very nice. It just scared the crap out of me sanding things and then putting the cap back onto the housing ...then finding out it still wouldn’t fit ...then sanding more ...then cutting a tad more off the yellow/tan lid ...then sanding more of the pump ...over and over (took 5 shots cause I didn’t want to take too much off and since I was only the second person to post pics on the install). go slow and keep referring back to this post ...and things will go well. I printed this post and was holding the pump housing up etc etc so i made sure things were turning out just like the pics

Actually it does clip in fully. Im going to install the one provided by walbro - Anyone have any info in regards to the OEM fpr. I am running a custom return setup and am trying to determine wether to plug or completly remove the fpr in the tank

Long time since anyone has posted on this thread, but I needed someones opinion.
I have over 300whp with 12lbs of boost and 550cc injectors and running a stock fuel pump. Occassionally my car will idle weird and rev from 600-1300 rpm and than eventually stay steady at 700 or so rpms. Does anyone know if the cause of this is due to using a stock fuel pump and if so will this help me out with the problem im having. While driving the car operates fine, its just when I come to a complete stop and push the clutch the RPMS are all over the place. If someone can chime in with some feedback id appreciate it.

i know this hasnt been bumped in awhile...but im doing my pump and came across this thread.....and wanted to know....instead of cutting the stock power adapter off,and soldering the new adapter on,do you think i can just tap in the new power adapter in...without cutting off the stock adapter...or is there a disadvantage on doing that...

so....i did my fuel pump today.....took me a hour or two.....but overall..this DIY helped me alot...for those that have the aem fic on stock fuel pump,i had those weird rpms jumps coming to a stop,bounce to 1500 then 500 then evening out,well i no longer have that issue,idles like stock,overall huge difference in the way the car performs,.im on 10 psi so i had to do it,but if ur on 8 psi...you ight be fine,but the idling issues,its fixed

I know this thread has been unactive but id like to ask anyway.. im not boosted, but if i got a new fuel pump and better injectors say 445cc and a fuel rail.. and then got a tune would the car make more power? I know most people do it for turbo setups..
