Did you paint the bottom or top? The original coloring is on the bottom of the needle, you have to strip it off first and then add your paint in its place

Yeah, I removed the stock paint from the bottom of the needle and then painted the bottom of the needle white

hmm.... you should've hit me up back in july when i was in waikiki for vacation..

also... the brightness thing... cameras can lie... but leds are still and can be really, really bright.
as long as the color is even and it looks good... it shouldn't matter...

it didn't look that hard when i watched my cousin do it. he actually let me do a couple, but he finished it off cuz i was taking too long and we snuck into a school building in the middle of the night just to use the school's equipment. just follow the arrows and you'll do fine.

I wanted to thank "panasoanic", "engifineer", and "WhiteBlazer01" for all their tutorial help on this mod.

Easy enough to do once you get going. The gauge cluster comes apart very easily and there is more than enough advice on this subject to guide you.

Like anything I suggest taking your time and remembering how things came apart to put them back together properly again. My two mistakes were not pushing the odometer pins all the way into the socket so I had to take my cluster back apart and diagnose that issue(an easy 5 minute job). I still need to figure out why my 3 fan LED's don't work but reading the soldering posts that the two sides may have connected may be the problem.

You started the car when the gauges were disconnected. Just give it a few miles, and it will go away. Or you can disconnect the battery for 20 minutes.

Just pm'd you back. As mentioned, this happens from time to time if the car was driven without the gauges in. You could reset the ECU, but it should go out on its own fairly quickly.

Engifineer.... I need help. I'm currently doing the gauge cluster blue. I want to keep things like the red line RED and the top of the temp gauge. Temp gauge doesn't matter so much... but as far as leaving the red line on the tach red... which LEDs do I not replace?

You still replace them all. the red on the gauge faces is a red filter on the face itself. They will still glow nice and red in those areas with all blue leds.

Is there anyone in Illinois that is willing to do this for me? I don't have patience with these sorts of things. PM me if you can.

I'm in Gurnee (by Six Flags). I did my gauge cluster two weekends ago. Took no more than 2 hours. I could do it for you. Contact me via PM if you want to figure a time and date. This weekend is NOT good for me though. I'll send you pics of my blue gauges later tonight. I don't have any spare LEDs though.
