Just to stir things up a bit, I dropped ABC news an e-mail...
If they bother to answer, I will report it here...

I just noticed your on-line news article and the interesting caption given a picture allegedly supporting it.
The URL for the article is:
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=2449076
And the following is a quick screen capture of a portion of the page:

Link to screen capture image:

As you can see, the text below the picture refers to "A long line of unsold 2006 Scion xB wagons..." while the picture itself shows a total of TWO Scion xBs. I fail to see how two Scions on a dealer's lot says ANYTHING about Scion xB sales slumping, especially since I believe their sales are still strong...
I don't work for Scion, Toyota, or any car dealerships, and never have, but I DO own a Scion xB, and take umbrage at the use of two new boxes, patiently waiting for new owners, as being "A long line of unsold 2006 Scion xB wagons..." that can't be sold.
I'd be very pleased to have some sort of comment on this.
Thanks for your time and attention,
Tom

"At the rate they sell----two IS a long line............."
True, true!
I just stopped at a local dealer earlier in the week, though, and he had been working hard at "stocking up" on xA and xB models and had like 4 xAs and half a dozen xBs (he also had one of the brand new, limited release, special tuner tCs - fine looking machine, that!).
So far, this is the only response:

I saw a whole car carrier of Scions heading away from the port at Long Beach last night. I can not remember seeing a whole carrier full before--usually just a couple. Hopefully some editor will get back to you with other then a canned response.
You're talking about a Liberal news media here. Liberals are liars. If you see a U.S. Marine helping a child out of a burning house in Iraq and you take a picture.
An unbiased media would report, "U.S. Marine rescues a child from a burning house."
ABC, NBC, CBS and the Crecent News Network will have the headline, "U.S. Marine caught throwing an innocent helpless child into a burning building firebomb by him."

Something IS going on in the xB department as both of our Scion dealers now have long lines of xB's in the last two weeks. Most are semi-loaded which makes them a bum deal. I haven't seen many xA's and hardly any a 3-door Yaris at all.
What they get now is all they get... there is going to be a gap in production when nothing is available, so those 'in the know' seem to by stashing away extras if they can. Loading them up makes sense, too, if they expect a run on the "last of the xA/xB models" when the new ones are announced - people will buy them no matter how they are loaded, just so long as they can get one before there aren't any left...
Interesting times.

Heheheheheheheheh
I suspect the equivalent of "go away, boy, you bother me" that I already got is the closest we are going to see to a "response."
One nobody telling them they screwed up isn't going to warrant the two minutes attention to get a reasonable response out of a national "news" organization geared to thinking in "millions."
I suppose I could send them a link to this topic... :D
