Default Firefox Image Upload Errors

Bit of a problem, boss?

Should I just send the pics to you or put them up on my own server, or wait for you to find the problem? The largest image was a 248K .jpg, average was around 150K.

Here's what ended up in the event gallery:

https://www.scionlife.com/gallery/ev...eattle_wa-2005

...and here's a typical complaint from the ScionLife server:

If you want to tackle it, Boss, here's the pics I was trying to load...

http://tijil.org/SE2_Seattle/

I just tossed them from my laptop into a new directory on my server.

I am not going to be around today to fix it, but tomorrow I will try uploading them from my end and see if I have the same problem.

Hmmm... I uploaded the pics with no problems... but I used IE not Firefox. I wonder if that is a problem. Why don't you try uploading a test photo using IE and see if it works or not.

I have no copies of MSIE, nor would I want any, and besides, Microsoft does not support MSIE on my OS,
AND NO LONGER EVEN OFFERS ANY DOWNLOADS OF MSIE for my OS.

Please see http://www.microsoft.com/mac/product...ternetexplorer

Wow, sore spot there? Just wanted to see if that was the issue so I could fix it. I will try to do some uploads in FireFox and see if I get any errors.

No, no sore spot, just the usual annoyance I feel when folks automatically assume that EVERYONE
pays Bill Gates for the priviledge of being allowed to use their computer...

See: http://www.tijil.org/blog/?p=10

My bad. I'll deal with it in a bit then.

On a related note I just coded a new routine into the gallery that will allow people to link external URLs to an event gallery so that it will be easier to keep a record of relevant pages. Go into any event gallery and in the top gray bar next to "upload more images" you will see "link a related page".

Check here for an example:
https://www.scionlife.com/gallery/ev...tle_wa-7232005

At least this way if someone has an upload problem they can still link the images to the gallery page.

Hmmmmmmm... I see what you loaded up was moved to a new location under a different name, and given the wrong date...

"Scion EXPOSED - Seattle WA - 7/23/2005" should really be "Scion Exposed 2 - Seattle, WA - 04 JUNE 2005" or something similar.

I just wanted to get some of the few remaining pics of the event put up somewhere - there originally was a massive set of pics from that 2005 event, but since it was in a regional forum, after people stopped commenting on it for a while the whole works vanished.

Hopefully some of the folks who took or have copies of pics from Exposed 2 in Seattle will take the time to add them so that there is a record.

Wrong date? Damn... I spent like 20 minutes trying to find the date for that event, and I thought that I had it when I found the Urban Racer gallery. Their page lists July 23rd... is that a different event?

Different event, different city, different people. (I was wondering WTF that link had to do with
Exposed 2.)

Scion Exposed 2 - Seattle used to have a lot of great pics here on ScionLife, until your software ate
it and it all vanished. I don't know of any other repository still extant.

Tomas

P.S. The date's on the Mariner's game pic in that gallery...

I wonder if my upload script is failing because you are on a Mac. I know there are some differences in the way that the browser works. Hmmm....

I dunno, Darren. Any special MS only shortcuts you are using or MS only assumptions you are making in your scripts?
That's usually the problem when this sort of thing is analysed, rather than some 'other' browser or 'other' OS being at fault.

Yeah, Sony is causing a problem for computer manufacturers - Dell, Apple, and other laptop
brands use some batteries from Sony, but so far only Dell and Apple have initiated recalls.

Right now the Apple support site and phone lines are reeling a bit from 1.8 million simultaneous
hits , but it will get taken care of. This mess is costing the maker of the batteries, Sony,
several hundred million dollars, so far, and slamming their stock.

Of course, for right now, my iBook has a new nickname... The Hindenbook...

Tomas

P.S. Back on topic: Kekai, do you, or anyone else you know, have any pics from the 2005
Scion Exposed2 - Seattle event?

OK, its official... Firefox does not upload images the same as IE.... I am going to try to figure out the solution soon.
