6kb is killing me.

I have a perfect avatar that I animated... but the best I can do on size is like 10 kb. I realize there are a lot of users and file size and all... but really.

Or... I would be happy linking the avatar to an external URL. That would work. But the 6kb is holding me back.

 

There are times the 6k limit blocks everything I can do in squashing an animated image (and I'm pretty decent at squeezing every last unneeded bit out of an image). At the same time I usually look at the extremely tight limit as a 'challenge.'

A bit more would be nice sometimes, but certainly not TOO much.

OK, taking a look at it now.

 

OK, tested and it worked just fine. Hmmm... then looked in the avatar gallery and saw PLENTY of people with avatars up to 10k in size. I remember doing this awhile ago when I first saw the thread, so I just thought you guys were cookoo.

THEN I realized something.

You guys are probably still uploading your avatar the OLD way... through the forum profile edit page. Try this instead...

Go to your main SL profile and click on your avatar. Then you can upload through the NEW system.

But, to ease the confusion I also upped the max avatar size in the phpbb system to 10k, so you can do it either way now.
