I think that once somone gets to 1000 posts they should get promoted to instead of having it say "SL Member" under their name it should say somthing different like "SL God" or SL Veteren" or somthing like that. Then maybe have more status names for different amounts of posts. Possibility??

You will note that the bar below your name gets longer as you get more posts.............

Yeah, I know the bar gets longer. How would that promote spammers and flames though??

I don't want people posting just to increase their post count or their title... in fact, I have considered removing ANY reference to post counts from the site. The activity bar shows how new someone is to the site and how active they have been.

Keep it the way it is. I don't want to lose the info we have, and we don't really need anything that encourages posts just to get a high number/special title. :D

interesting, kind of a "socialist forum" where everyone is equal. that flies in the face of generally accepted internet forum protocol but i like how it does away with the perception that someone's "value" to the forum is somehow linked to how many times they wrote stuff (sometimes inane stuff). some really bright folk are just shy and some really ignorant folk have no concern that their unchecked thoughts are pasted all over an internet forum. it also kinda kills the whole "no0b" thing being a negative and "forum regular" being a holier than thou kinda status. i'd just suggest that mods have access to the real post hx so we can monitor the no0bs.

Well, for now I don't think I am going to make any changes... when we upgrade to phbb3.0 I will think it over.

Yeah, I see your point. I just wanted to put the idea out there after seeing it on other forums. BTW, when is phbb 3.0 gonna come out?

The pre-Beta is out there, but still has some bugs. Beta is expected to be out in the next couple of months. I have a pre-Beta copy running to test it out... but haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet. Doesn't look too much different than this version... but has some integrated features that will make life easier for the moderators.

(Is there any chance that those "moderators" might get a chance to peer at the 'new' stuff? :D )

i like it the way it is now.

you'll see me on other sites (rarely) that have that system. i know i have a "low ranking" title on one site despite the fact that i've been around well much longer than individuals who have the most post counts..

yeah.. i found those type of forums to be filled with umm... crap. (i.e. useless posts that have no meaning but to increase post count)

that's why i continue not to post or go there often.. and find my addiction to be umm.... fulfilled here.

That's where you get the "I got # posts, anybody got more?" posts, and the inevitable drivel that follows to make post counts rise. We get a LITTLE bit of that here, but not too much - I pay no attention to the fact that I'm poster # 14 out of 32737...

Wait, did I say that out loud?
