Default Other forums...A suggestion for this site?

On some of the other forums I frequent, they have a way of showing a few lines of the original post when your curser passes over it. It can be annoying at times, but with as slow as this site is at times, it would be a benefit to some of us to have this feature. I'm sure you guys know what I mean by this.

I (quite often, unfortunately) click on a topic and wait (forever sometimes) for it to load, only to realize I read it before and wasted my time for nothing. If this feature were in place, it would save a lot of us time by not having to wait for the page to load, just to realize we have already seen it. We could pass over the desired topic, read what it's about and then decide whether we want to open it or not. This would be most effective on the main page of ScionLife, but could be used on ALL the pages of SL.

I don't know if this is possible, but it may be worth a shot?

Yea i have noticed that this site can be slow at times... but this is how i cope with it...

I have firefox installed (as should all of you). When i am looking through the new topics, i click the scroll button to open it in a new tab. So, when i am finished looking at the new topics, i can look at the first one. Once i am done with that one, i can move on to the next tab. Usually once i am done with the first topic, they are all done loading.

Give it a shot... couldnt hurt any!

yeh i think this would make the forum a lot more easier to navigate..sometimes i click on topics believing it was related to the tc and it ends up being about xB and xA.

Wow, I wouldn't say it is 'obviously needed' but thanks for the response! I just felt it would help with navigating through read and unread posts...Thanks for at least looking into it!

I meant from a standpoint of demand... more than a few people have asked for it now.

How much slower can it get? J/k Darren...both Darrens. I know that this is being worked on constantly.

BTW...NONE of the other sites I go to that have this feature are any slower than this site...They all run way faster even WITH this.

Not really a good speed comparison. At it's peak, they had 76 users on at one time. We've currently got almost 300 people on...

Can someone find the modification for phpbb that will allow me to add the mouseover text? I have been searching for it and can't find it.
