If this has been posted before...sorry and please delete.

Question is why when you logon to the main page(scionlife.com) do you have to logon again in the forums?

Here is what I do(tried this in Firefox, and IE) and same thing happens

1) Open www.scionlife.com
I enter my user name and password on this page

2) It then shows that I am logged on

3) I click on one of the latest posts...ie WTB Scion Navigation

4) I then have to log on again to the forums??

It does it to me too from time to time. I have no clue why. I gets very annoying. I am logged in and click on a hyperlink to send me somewhere else on SL and it asks me to log in again.

Check the URL... is it www.scionlife.com or just scionlife.com (with no www)? Some links point to one and not the other. I'm thinking you're logging into www.scionlife.com and then the link is taking you to the other url - where you would have to log in again. That's normal.

They would be the same because both types of url's are extensions of the world wide web. So it wouldn't make a difference how it is typed in. Unless the server has been set up differently, everything should be the same.

they are not the same... the servers are set up differently.

any links with a www. prefix are older legacy links.

So why aren't the servers merged? If they are setup differently you should at least have the merge to the previous server so that the information is contained no matter where you log in.

it is.. older links redirect you to the newer ones..
it's only the one aspect of cookies and logging into the older scionlife front page

most likely from someone bookmarking it long ago and haven't updated it.

solution? just update your bookmarks and remove the www prefix.. log into the site from the new url... it's more a browser thing than server.

why would you not included the www in the registration on the server? Almost everyone will have this problem then....

The www is included. It is just configuration of the software. Some stuff is www some is not - and the cookies are different. That's the important part. Thing is, people probably do have this problem - but when prompted to log into the second site, they just log in and ignore it. If you're seeing it every time, you may want to delete the scionlife cookies and then check the "remember me" box next time you log into each.

Before changing to the new forum software the "default" for EVERYTHING at ScionLife.com was to include the www. - With the changeover the default was changed to NOT having the www.

Either one will get you where you are going, but when logging on if you specify the www. the COOKIES set in you browser are different than if you do NOT specify the www. so that the COOKIES your browser keeps will not match when you go to newer items.

If your old bookmark specifies the www. change it so that it does not.

(Yes, that is the way cookies work.)

it does not matter, I have tried this on several different computers, cookies cleared or not. When you put in scionlife.com....it takes you to www.scionlife.com....even if your bookmark/favorite/shortcut does not have the www

the only way it works is if your bookmark/favorite/shortcut points to scionlife.com/forums
