What if the little box that says "Notify me when a reply is made" defaults to unchecked and then you check it if you want to know about replies.......

 

You can change that in your profile now. It can be set to not default. But it's per user.

 

Here's something I sent to someone else, gives a little more detail:

If you go to edit your profile, you should now see the option to remove that as default. But you'll also have to edit your Watched Topics list to remove the ones that set as default in that time period.

Thanks........hadn't been able to get into my profile for awhile. Not sure why but it would log me out everytime. Oh well, it works now so I am good.
