Default Watch Threads I Reply To?

Has something changed in the watching of threads? I'm suddenly getting notifications on everything I've replied to... and I don't recall selecting it. Matter of fact... I went to edit my profile to turn it off and the option is gone.

Yes, something did change. I cleaned up the profile page because many of the options just confuse most of our users. It is now the default that you will watch topics you reply to... unless you uncheck the box as you make the reply.

You realize "...unless you uncheck the box as you make the reply." does not apply to "Quick Reply"... Those one is stuck with getting notifications on unless one goes back i n and kills them on the "watched_topics" page...

Change the e-mail address to something that gets returned... or set your mail app filters to bounce and delete them....

Having to have the options available reduced to the 'least common denominator' set is a pain - better, maybe, to set them for the most common 'default' setup, and at LEAST have an "advanced options" page for those of us that can handle a few options?

anyway to have it unchecked by default? I dunno about everyone else but I can see this being a nuisance...

I think that it's an annoyance, it's so aggravating.

D, please turn this option off or make it able to disabled.

Crap, I didn't even think about that quick reply box and how it would affect things. I will make some changes today.

Fixed... there is now a checkbox under the quick-reply box that will let you NOT subscribe if you please.

Uh, Darren, you may have prematurely closed this topic.

I believe some folks do not want to be notified by e-mail for ANY topic, period.

Having a one-time choice to not receive ANY notifications is what those folks wanted, not having to remember to click some little check-box for each and every post they make.

I suspect most folks fall into two large groups: (1) Those who want to be notified for ALL topics they posted in and (2) Those who do NOT want to be notified for ANY topics they posted in.

I'm not sure how many fit the "have to do one more thing I can forget with every post I make" group, but I suspect it is smaller than the other two.

I'm not sure the 'fix' is better than the "choose once in the profile" we had before...

I could be wrong, though, it has happened before...

Tom

P.S. I see other comments in topics (example: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=104341) and I'm wondering if I'm the only one getting PMs about this.
