Default Watching Topics?

How come when I watch a topic somtimes I stop getting an update on the new posts? I'll have to find that topic again and re-watch it and sometimes I forget the titles and the search don't help. I just want to watch a bunch of topics without losing them. I think I'm watching about 10 or so now but it should be more. Any help on fixing this?

Is anyone else having these problems? I haven't heard any other complaints and I haven't personally had this problem. Lets see if anyone else can verify the issue.

I have that problem all the time. What I started doing was posting a simple "subscribed" in the thread, so that it appears in the My Posts list. I still stop getting notifications sometimes, but at least I won't lose the thread.

Yes.

I am often having to add a topic back into my 'watched' list that somehow stopped notifying with no action on my part.

I suspect this happens more often than I am aware of because I only realize this has happened when I again spot a topic I was watching with a new reply and go to it. Often there are a string of replies I have not been notified about sitting there.

Possible reason might be the receiving mail server not being available and the originating systems dropping the notifications because of that. If the re-trys are too close together or re-try number set too low this could happen.

Anyway, it DOES happen, more often than weekly for me.

Hmm... well, the actual email doesn't have anything to do with your "topic watch". If the site sends out an email and it bounces back, or never goes out at all for some strange reason, the forum software does not know that and you would still be watching the topic.

I am playing with the pre-beta version of phpbb3.0 right now... so in the near future I will be updating everything to the new, unmodified software. I am going to let this problem solve itself at that point.
