Default why 50 posts until I can do much?

Just curious, why do I have to wait until i have 50 posts to do much on here? I can understand needeing at least one or two posts... but 50? just nuts.... This website isn't my life, I don't make pointless posts like a lot of people.

it's just so people can get to know you. It's a trust thing i guess you could say. by posting around, you get your name out, so when it comes time to sell stuff, people already know who you are pretty much.

I can understand it for a lower number, but 50 is a lot of psots. I have been reading for a while, learned a lot here, but just don't have much to say usually. I'll have to look for more threads to post on...

We would not have much of a site if people didn't post. Everybody's opinion is welcome here.......at least most of the time.

The 50-post restriction is only for two areas of the site... off-topic and classifieds.

We had an early problem where people would create accounts just to post in these areas, and then it would cause issues. Some people would cause problems in off-topic by posting slurs, insults, etc. Others would spam the classifieds with 50 topics about the same thing. When we instituted the 50-post restriction it virtually stopped all of these problems.
