No, i mean if i wanted running lights that were only on when the car was on. I know i would forget to turn the lights off when i get out of the car an walk away from it.

Since I have a free Saturday morning, I just did this mod. If anything, it'll actually make me not drive around with my fogs on all the time, but it would be nice to turn them on just when I need. For example, at a drive-in, parking lights and DRLs are nice for not blinding people, but since the xB doesn't give me that, just having the fogs on would be good-- low, wide light!

Thanks, greenguyshrek!

Oh. you would need to find a power that turns on with the key. If anything there are some fuses in the car were you pop the hood. that you can splice into. I forget which one but that would be your best bet.
If you need anymore help let me know.

How can you do this with a JDM light up switch for JDM fogs? Right now i can do either this mod or the switch mod but i can't figure out how to combine the two.

Alright I got you man.

This is waht you should have since you have the JDM Foglight switch.

What you need to do is instead of using the ground for the switch (not for the light) use the new ground that gose to the relay. Its not really a ground it the wire that you use inplace of the stock ground.
Kind of like this ground

If you need further help PM me and I can do so.

i did this today. Great mod and took me like 30 minutes and only because it was raining. what i did different was... i wired the wire that originally was supposed to go to the green wire for the illumination of the AC and ran it to the switched wire for the stereo. it was easy for me to find since i have an aftermarket stereo, and just needed to find the red wire. that way, they turn off when the car does and they turn back on when the car starts.

thanks again for the DIY!!!

great DIY. I did it the other day and the fogs worked for about 2 days. then it stopped working, so i went back to the factory wiring scheme and now the fogs work again. any guess to what happened? relay blew or something?

Did you try replacing the relay? Not sure, try it again and double check all the wires.

Question:

Is the Green Wire listed here:

The Green wire here in the original foglight plug?

Sorry for bringing up an old post.

I followed the steps except I ran the ignition wire to the cig lighter instead of the green wire from the middle plug.

So I tested the setup, turned the key on, left the headlights off and flipped the fog light switch. The fogs are working perfectly but now I have another problem, my headlights are on with or without the light switch turned on as long as the key is turned.

Any suggestions?

Here's some pictures

with the headlight switch off, fog light switch off, key turned to ign

headlight switch on, fog light switch off, key turned

headlight switch on, fog light switch on, key turned

In the last picture you can see the only difference is the parking lights are off but the headlights stay on.

Now I'm going to go switch the wire from the cig lighter to the green wire in from the center plug. See what happens there.
