Green slime inside tail lights
Is anyone else having this problem? My tail lights (over the years) have acquired green slime on the inside of the tail light lenses! It is NOT a good look!!! I'm guessing the lenses were not sealed properly from the beginning and water has seeped in and created the perfect environment for something to grow. Has anyone successfully removed the lense to clean inside of them? Thanks - I love my Scion!!!
you would be correct moisture issue....ive seen it in much MUCH older cars, where the tail lights come apart, and a run thru the dishwasher and they are good as new.....in the case of "sealed" units things get tricky...idealy what you want to do is "steam" the tail lights, it does work its just time consuming, next option and probably the better one is to bake the lights pop em apart and run em thru the dishwasher then re-seal them, since its obvious you have a seal issue anyway
if it starts to and fails, your going to have to get creative...by way of some dawn diluted and poured "warm" into the lights..fill em and let em sit overnight, shake em every few hours if you can....then rinse em out and steam them imediatly ...anything harsher than that will leave its own kind of scum on the inside of the lights...
this is a last resort btw as the chrome on the lights is very VERY delicate
