Default The culmination of two years of R & D!

Just got the tC off the blocks and back on the road after three weeks in the garage ...

My auto couldn't handle the power of the 32G turbo w/ intercooler, forged pistons, polished and ported head, seamless block guard, corello rods, polished crank, ZPI pulley, perfomance bearings and three-angle valve job (bored 30 over). So after 10K miles on the tranny, I was forced to swap it out for a stick. And I didn't go light. When I found a manual tranny at the junk yard with 8K miles on it, I introduced a limited slip differential, light weight flywheel, six puck ceramic disc, and a performance pressure plate.

Its a screamer baby.

So, I'm takin' her to the track to ruin a set of tires on Friday ... weather permitting.

Any questions?

I think you will need a hood scoop - looks like about 165 liters of air per second flowing into the engine at 7-8 psi boost and 6000 rpm if my calculations are correct. Does anyone ever consider the air volume when they go turbo?? Seems like a real lot of air trying to get under that hood past that battery.

Do tranny swap (not likely since i'm a retard LOL) Or build the auto tranny into a 500hp 650 tq beast!! I've already found a shop that can/will do it. But it will cost about $5,000. But I would also have the benefit of being unique with my set up. Any opinions?

The stick was a cheaper option, ended up costing around $4K. And at this point I can't believe I ever bought it as an auto ... this thing is now much more fun to drive! The clutch isn't for the faint of heart, though.

I'm heading to the track right now. I'm in Cincinnati ... and rain could be a factor. Tires will def be a factor.

Vids will be posted this weekend, check back soon!

Sorry guys ... very poor performance. Still going to post a vid or two though, just so you know why my times were so bad. I couldn't hook the tires up. Took off in second gear a couple times (still spins the tires) cause I got zero traction with first. Ended up with 15.1 @ 106 mph. I am not satisfied, and I will post better times next week!!!

You have TOO MUCH POWER! Have to keep the RPM lower on take off and shift into the next gear at much less than redline until you get into third. Even in my stock xB more than half throttle and over 3k rpm will spin in first gear. I wonder if you raised the rear if you would get more weight transfer to the front wheels?? Hey at least you can practice first gear takeoffs without going to the track.

Here's a link to some vids ... two were from my recent visit to the track. When I raced the mustang, I started in second to get better traction off the line, bogged it a little, and after boost kicked in, started spinning tires again. I would have taken the stang, but I missed fourth and lost with a 14.58 @ 102. The other one was a bit earlier and it was a frustrating amount of tire spin and a correspondingly crappy time, although I did reach high speeds, such as 106+.

The other vids aren't to bad either, one of those a very early vid of my tC after the installation of my first turbo, my brothers 80+ mph boat, and his '67 camaro.

You haven't heard the last of me ... will hit the track again soon!

wow...all that power, you just need to get it to the pavement...i suggest big rubbers or taller gears, but obviously you know better than me at this kinda stuff. but with all that power, if you can find some traction you shoul have a 10 second tc!
