Default do it yourself auto shop

years ago, there used to be a place in the San Fernando Valley that would rent you a auto bay to work on your car....you could put it on a lift or change the oil or whatever....

does anyone know of such a place in the Valley or near by?

i need to do some work under my xB but can not slide under it like most everyone else does....

thanks a lot!

i don't know about cali, but being a marine has it's benefits, there is a place on the bases called The Hobby Shop and you can go in there and work on your car all day for free, and they have all the tools for FREE, you can even paint your car there and bake it, all you have to buy is the paint. it is awesome, only bad thing was the it was first come first serve so if you slept in you wouldn't be able to get in. so if you know a marine over there ask him too.

I've seen those around but it's more like you rent it for a month for like $1000 and I don't think your talking about that.

Anyone can do there own work at my dealership so long as you are qualified to use the lifts, so its kind of like that. The only thing is you have to work here and you dont have to rent.

I have one, right here on base, $2 an hour for the lift, you can do whatever you want, they rollout the big Snapon tool chest for you and you can go to town. If you do an oil change it is 4 bucks cause they dispose of your ooil and filter for you....I have done all of my Mustang work there, complete exhaust change.... it is great, one benefit from the military...the Hobby shop....

I have heard of the roll in stalls that you can rent for the day here in the northeast as well, way back in the day though. What they do have here though, is a service that will come to you and do any work on your car right on the spot. Drives up in a van, and goes to work right there in your driveway, go figure.
