Default Question about air flow???????

Are the open grilles in the front of the xb functional??????I was thinking of making a set of grille inserts for the front of my xb and I was thinking of making them solid......Do you think the car will overheat or do any damage to the engine closing the holes off like that????????

The top grille does not feed the radiator or cooling directly. It allows outside air to flow over the engine and you would likely not see much difference in engine heating if this one was covered (altho I know a guy with a supercharger and his ran on the hot side with this covered). The lower 2 grilles feed the radiator and A/C and probably need to stay open for proper cooling. You could try blocking one or both with some cardboard to see what happens but without a temperature gauge and a close eye on it you might risk overheating the engine which could cause major engine damage.

Well the top grille I know anumber of people have filled in behind even if just to keep the engine cleaner, with no problems. The lower 2 however would likely cause issues.
