Anyone watch this last week? I think it's some sort of mini series on ESPN. It's about the Yankees signing Reggie Jackson and NYC at the time.

I had heard of it a while back but didn't know when it was on - but found myself watching it in my hotel last week when I was in VA. It was pretty decent actually. I don't know much of the "real" story but it's not bad.

Anyway, the second part is on tonight at 10 on ESPN if anyone wants to check it out.

I grew up in the Bay Area and saw the A's play in three straight World Series. You could walk up to the window and buy a ticket for the World Series the day of the games. Billy Martin--born in Oakland--was just what you see in that movie. I believe Steinbrenner hired and fired him about 5 times. The parallel thread with the Son of Sam is very chilling!! The mini-series runs about 8 weeks on Tuesday nights.

Sunjata was an interesting choice for Reggie Jackson. I think he's doing fine. If anything his role as Franco on Rescue Me seems to help him with the attitude. As for Martin, I never liked him. I always saw him as a man of low intelligence, and wondered what he was doing managing the Yanks. I WAS WRONG. This series, if true, has given me alot of respect for Martin. I was a kid back then, but now older and seeing what life can throw at you, I'm glad we had Martin. The guy playing George? Hilarious!
