So I went out to Ocean SHores on Sunday to have a relaxing day. Driving out there I saw a few Scions with TA stickers. Prety cool.

I drove out onto the beach with the hundreds of other people. Got out and enjoyed the funky smell and the beeping of moped horns. I get back in the tC and drive around the beach for a bit, then head off to visit the knickknack stores to see what we can spend on useless stuff.

Upon finding nothing of any interest we head down to a state park just south of the 4x4 quad track. We walk up and down and come across a beautiful 60/40 mix husky. 11 years old and looking like he was just a young pup. Absolutely beautiful dog.

So we head back and stop at a grill house and have some lunch/dinner. Afterwards we head back to the beach. This time heading down south to the last entrance, gettin out onto the sand and hanging a left. After driving for a few minutes I come across a suburban. All by itself and no other cars beyond. Taking this as a sign I go to turn around.

Wrong. So I proceed to try and remove myself from this situation.

It worked, but in only one direction. Reverse. As you can see in the 2nd, there are 3 tracks behind the car to the left. One set being right under it. This is where pics lack. Upon finding my only direction is backwards, I proveed to try and baby it forward........to no avail. It sinks down to the chassis. Picture the car, front wheels sunk in quicksand like substance above the center hub of the wheel and the car resting on its chassis so that the front suspension is fully flexed down.

After several attempts by passer-by folks at digging out the car, we proceed to call a tow truck. With a winch controller in hand, he pulls us right out.

What you dont see just to the right, out of the pic, is the truck winding up the cable. The pic doesnt really do the entire debacle justice.

Morale of the story.................watch out for that soft stuff. Itll get ya.

You know, I remember a time once when I was a kid and my mom tried to treat her 82 buick like a 4x4. The next day when a Ranger finally found us and pulled us out his best advice was this:

"next time, if you want to 4x4, buy a jeep"

Hey man how did we miss you? Well im glad you got out.

I had my baja down there one year during the corvett and classic truck meet. me and a k5 blazer spent most of sturday yarding out cars and trucks. I have some funny pics from that somewhere that ill have to find and post. A bug pulling anything usually leads to a pretty funny pic.

At least your car is OK and you can now explain to people why they shouldn't drive on the beach! :silly:

I've seen a car once that got stuck in an area of the beach (probably south of Pismo Beach, California where you can drive for miles on the beach) where a creek comes out and it gets mucky. The tide came in before the car got out and it was ruined in the surf. (this was in the days before cell phones, if anyone can imagine this.....)

Growing up down at the beach you learn early not to drive in the soft sand, and whatever you do DON'T STOP!!! or you get stuck.

yeah, i was tryin to turn around but was too late.

I own a 4x4, but Im not about to drive that 10mpg hog out to the beach from Kent just for half a day of driving around. Although I do drive it further just to beat the crap out of it. Huh.
Been out there dozens of times in my Camry. Next time ill just stay away from that section of the beach. The best stuck is whats not pictured. I was a lil disappointed in that.

Nope, no dent.
