Default tc oil filter. toyota filter or mobil

Which filter should I use. Toyota YZZF1 or Mobil

I am a little hesitant to buy the toyota yzzf1 which is sold on trdparks.com for i believe for $35. A lot of people are saying this is a good oil filter and I believe it but was a little scare to buy because "how good of an oil filter can it be for like 3.50 bucks?" And I am scare to buy it because I came across this site which said it was not the same filter that is supplied by toyota which is made in japan. Instead it is made in thailand. heres the website. http://home.earthlink.net/~cewhite3nc/id12.html

I was planning on buying the mobil oil filter because, it seems like the best and it is a lot safer than say buying the toyota yzzf1 on the internet. And also does any one know what size fits the 2008 tc if i use the mobil oil filter.

Just want to see your insights about the toyota filter bought online?????.

And also, i have came across lots of post and this guy, I believe username is like sciontc... something keeps saying the toyota filer is good and keeps telling people that its the best stuff and buy it at trdparks.com. He seems like a promoter for that company and i don't really trust him.

So buy it at your local dealer and pay $6.00 if it will make you feel better. It's the same filter your local dealer would use if they changed your oil. I just went through the whole Japanese/Thailand filter thing and realized that none of these Internet 'experts' have any data to back up which filter does it's job (filters) better. There have been no single/multi pass tests done or anything. It seems like everyone decided that just because the media is different that means it's better. I personally decided to just use the Thai filter and realize that there are god knows how many Toyotas on the road with 200,000+ miles doing the exact same thing.

Any place that sells the Mobil1 filter should have a book or system where you can look up the part number.

The Toyota filter should be a good filter; would your dealership put ____ on your car knowing they would have to fix it? I can't say anything about sciontc as I don't know him/her but I can say something about trdsparks.com; I ordered an armrest from them. It was cheaper than most places and they shipped fast. I was happy. Happy people (customers) sometimes recommend businesses. You don't have to trust me if you don't want to. Good luck on your oil filter decision.

If you'd like to do more research on oil/filters/maintenance stuff I'd suggest a visit to Bob is the Oil Guy[/quote]

i use and recommend the toyota's yzzf1 over any other filter.

there are pictures somewhere on this site or others of oil filter comparison pictures... and there's no question.

great, if not the best, performance as well as best bang for your buck.

it's a great filter... many still use it... even if they change the oil itself over to synthetic.

1. don't be scared.
2. the TRD sparks deal for 10 filters, shipped- to me they come out to $4.81 ea.
3. my personal recommendation is if your using conventional oil, M1 oil, Castol Syntec, Penz. Platnium, Valvoline syn , Redline >>>>> then use the OEM Toyota filter
If your gonna go Synlube, Amsoil >>> then get there specific oil filters, that also have the anit-drain back valve , but those filters are $15-25 ea. -- but go for longer mile interval oil changes -- thus the reason why they cost so much.

An endless debate. I'm sure Mobil recommends the Mobil 1 filter. You can get a Pure 1 if you really want while you're at the auto part store. I've read the media is good at filtering but has a higher resistance than others. I have used them several times, no idea if they're better than anything else.

Easy and cheap to buy the Toyota filters in bulk and not waste time worrying about having the absolute best filter or posting photos of cut open oil filters on the Internet.

I use the stock oil filter you buy from the dealer, and synthetic oil from Autozone. Total change usually costs me less than $20

I had the pictures of the two cut up before in the oil change thread. In short, don't use the m1 filter for tC, because it's way smaller than what toyota gives you. M1 gives the tC the same filters used on the 1.8L engines from toyota.
