I recently lost a cylinder on my Saturn SL2, so I get to buy a new car. I'm almost nine months pregnant, and was planning on keeping the Saturn for another year. We can afford a car payment, but would like to have something less than $300 a month.

I am calling my insurance tomorrow to see what the insurance runs on a Scion xB. I am also calling the dealership to see if Toyota's recent grad program applies to the Scion if I finance through them. I have about $2000 in negative equity, and I am worried that they won't give me a penny for my trade. I can come up with $1000, but more than that will be hard.

Anyway, does anyone know if the insurance costs are comprable to a Saturn SL2? Also, do you know much about financing through TFS? Any help with be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Do you like your cars? Should I ask any specific questions? Should I know anything in advance? My husband is loving the Scion, but I am really pushing for the Pontiac Vibe. Until recently my husband wouldn't even look at a non-us car, but since most US cars aren't made here anymore, he doesn't care. I am a little worried about the stigma of driving a foriegn car, but such is life. I am from Detroit and my family works for the auto makers.

Welcome to the forum!

i am paying way less than 300 a month with no down payment

my insurance is a bit high due to where i live, 500 6 months

best way to really know how a scion feel is to test drive them.

good luck on your future purchase!

hey, welcome.

for me to get the scion xB by myself (and my horrible credit) i'd have to put $1000 down and i'd be lookin at 280 a month for i think the 72 mos loan.
i know of people with credit WORSE than mine (which is very hard to do) that have a box, and put less money down.

havent bought it yet, but i'm tryin to get a cosigner.

good luck and keep us posted with the results and whatever u wind up getting.

To get the recent College Grad Rebate you credit has to be perfect. Not even one late
payment in your credit history. Check w/your bank about an auto loan also. I told my
bank that from Toyota I would get the best rate they had and my bank beat it by a
little bit.
There really is no negotating on the Scions. What the price is, is what you pay.
Even if you have to finance the extra from your other car you should still be under $300.00 a month. Warning: If you start adding accessories your price can jump
up real quickly, then so will your payment. You can buy a lot of the stuff for the xB
cheaper from retailers other than buying from your Toyota dealer.
Your insurance should be comparable to your Saturn. When you talk to your
insurance agent make sure they run your new Scion through their system correctly.
Make sure it gets classified as a wagon or car not as a SUV.
Everyone seems to really like their xB's on here. More people complain about their
Scion tC's than anything else. It is great with little ones and car seats. We have two
boys in car seats and it is very easy to get them in and out, big doors that open wide.
Plus, there is so much interior room it makes it very comfortable to drive. My wife
and I looked at the Matrix and Vibe and liked the xB because of the room. Plus, it's a little more unique.
