Does anyone know if a performance / fuel saver chip really works? I see tons of them on Ebay for really cheap. To me it sounds too good to be true but maybe someone out there can fill me in??

I see tons of them on Ebay for really cheap. To me it sounds too good to be true but maybe someone out there can fill me in?? There is a Mythbusters episode where they try all of these so called gas savers and not one of them worked............................. sizzlinscion 11-17-2007, 07:29 AM do not buy it! it does nothing swartzautoman 11-17-2007, 04:24 PM scam! coryjames 11-17-2007, 06:14 PM the only thing that really saves gas is your right foot and maybe i/h/e may gain you a little but who knows when i had my first gen no matter how i drove it it got the same mialage my second gen is diff drive nice 30 mpg drive like crap 22 so its all in the foot wacktool 11-18-2007, 12:23 AM I was about to post this awell, here is a link to one auction. The thing is everyone gave him 100% feedback and they claimed it worked? Can some1 explain this to me? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PERFORMANCE-CHIP-SCION-XB-2004-2008-2007-2006-2005-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33597QQihZ017QQitemZ270187156357QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW AcidDrop 11-18-2007, 12:32 AM listen those fake chip things from ebay are crap. a cousin of mine bought one for his corolla and saids that he don't feel or has even noticed a difference at all and it's been on the car for over 5 months. buy something else cause this does not make your car go faster, nor saves you gas mileage. CIONIDE 11-18-2007, 01:53 AM If it were possible to get 45 more horsepower and 25% better gas mileage, without negatively affecting reliability, simply from a computer chip that could be produced for $9.00; don't you think the engineers at a 50+ year old, multi-billion $ international auto manufacturer would have already done it!?! It just doesn't make sense when you think it through; but for less than $20 including shipping I'm sure they'll sell plenty whether it does what they claim or not. Caveat emptor. swartzautoman 11-18-2007, 03:59 AM you should read the feedbacks: #1 Got 0 gain with this chip! You get what u pay for. Thanks anyways #2Not seeing the performance suggested. I think a CAI would suffice more #3wasn't quite what I expected didn't see any substancial difference #4This chip is a cheap resistor that doesn't work #5i notice some very small gains /my vfac dosn't like it so i gave it to my buddy i didn't make any of this up its all in his feedback! you need to look past the 100%. CIONIDE 11-18-2007, 04:28 AM I rest my case. BTW, who posted all the "satisfied" responses!?! ScionFred 11-18-2007, 07:39 AM Does anyone know if a performance / fuel saver chip really works? I see tons of them on Ebay for really cheap. To me it sounds too good to be true but maybe someone out there can fill me in?? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. It definitely is in this case. To the question of who posts favorable feedback on these little 'miracle' chips, I can only surmise that it's the same people who are inexplicably 'cured' with placebo medications. CIONIDE 11-18-2007, 07:59 AM I just figured they're related in some way to the "poster" of the item for sale, so I figured "stay away!" Now I'm waiting to see if I wasted more $$ (only $13 this time) on the PIAA 7440 Xtreme White bulbs . They supposedly shine with 25% more watts even with the blue tint, and just like the mpg/power chip, rec'd rave reviews... for what little worth they might offer. I'll let you know, and post pictures ASAIA (as soon as it arrives). superboxcarxb 11-18-2007, 08:31 AM you get what u pay for......, CIONIDE 11-18-2007, 08:47 AM An eternal optimist I see. I'll let you know. 714xb 11-22-2007, 03:21 PM You could always convert the motor to bio-diesel.
