Default wiring question

I have a ma audio 1000 watt amp and just got a single alpine type r 4 ohm 12 inch sub. I was wondering what the best way to wire this up on the sub itself and the amp? Thanks in advance.

is the amp a 2 channel amp or mono? what ohm is it stable at? are the type r's these SWR-1242D 12" Subwoofer (4Ω + 4Ω) or these SWR-1222D 12" Subwoofer (2Ω + 2Ω)? See if this helps you.

if the sub is 4ohms run it at that.
you only need 2 wires for the connection... RearRight(+) and the RearLeft(-) if its a 4 channel.

so i could just run the wires to one set of connestion on the sub? there are four connections and they gave me jumper wires to run the sub at 8 ohms or 2 ohms which would be wiring the voice coils in series or parralel. i just need to know if i should run it at or four ohms to be safe and not blow anything.

Run it at 4ohms.... use a volt meter to check your wires to the subwoofer. All you need are 2 wires.

I am familiar with their amps, by gauges do you mean a digital screen on the front of the amp? Look on the chrome piece it should say a model number that will start with M or HK. let me know
