Hi Folks,

I am somewhat clueless about car stuff (stereotypical of my gender and generation - female, almost 50), but I love my xB... I have factory interior lights and my 9yo kid accidentally kicked the one behind the driver's seat, breaking one of the brackets that holds it in place and dis-lodging the other bracket from whatever it is anchored to underneath the seat. So, 2 questions :

1. Is there anything I can get that is inexpensive to replace that broken bracket? I purchased the hardware kit from Toyota that goes with the interior lights, but have not opened it yet (costs a fortune - I assume mostly because it includes the switch and they want to charge more for that), so I have the factory bracket if I need to use that.

2. How do you :?: get the cloth covering off from below the front seats without cutting it in some way? I took a quick, cursory look and did not see anything obvious that would allow me to remove the cloth - it seems sewed to the seat cover. I am fairly handy with tools (have replaced garbage disposals), so this looks easy if I can figure out how to do it without tearing up the cloth covering and seat cover.

Any and all responses would be appreciated. Am due for a routine service visit on Wed. 11/10, so I would really like to figure this out before then - OTW I will just have them do it on Wed. - but would love to save that $$!

Thanks, V

use a zip tie, and don't forget to cut the extra off. just feel around up there for a bar under the cloth and you can put a zip tie through the cloth and around the bar. very easy
