Hi, I got HIDs for xmas and I have been experiencing a "problem" with them. When my radio is turned on and I turn on the HIDs I hear a loud pop noise and the radio cuts out at the same time for about 1 second. Is this normal?

Everything seems to be grounded fine to me. I took some pics just in case.

maybe you should try grounding somewhere else other then the battery.

Where should I ground the wires so it wouldn't be considered ghetto..?

ground it on a screw somewhere under the hood and did your kit come with a harness?

yes it came with a harness. But I don't see anywhere that really great for grounding it, it's all painted black metal.

EDIT: nm, i found some suggestions http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=195380&highlight=hid+ground

take some rough sand paper and sand the paint down to bare metal. that's how i grounded my amp in the back.

Right there should be fine or somewhere similar, it doesn't matter if its painted metal. it worked for me :eyebrow:

Thats where I ended up putting it. I sanded it down around the edges to bare metal too. I also sanded the area around the amp ground too. I'll check it as soon as I finish eating.

Theres still an audible pop coming from my stock speakers when I switch the HIDs on. Its not very loud but it is there. It sounds like *bup* The sub doesn't make any noise when switching, only the stock speakers.
