Default Rear Bumper Advice / Time for a new clutch??

Well I'm a little over 55,000 miles but this morning after waking up I noticed two problems with the ride...

1) I got hit last night while parked at the movies (passenger side corner of the bumper) pretty huge dent which I didn't notice until this morning when checking the mail - I'll get a pic up soon (lost the power cord for camera) but dealership is quoting me $670.00 and with my $500 deductible looks like I'll have to live with it for awhile.

a. Is it advisable to take off the bumper and try to pop it out? The paint is already cracked along the upper right corner crease or should I just live w/ it.

2) I can't get into reserve gear w/out double shifting and just going through the run thru (1-5) gear 5 is also hard to get into and when I can get into 5th (in park) it's damn near impossible to get it out

a. I don't much about anything towards the clutch but is this a sign of 'synchros'/ clutch going or just something that some clutch fluid could fix

What a night - anyways hope you guys have better luck through the weekend then I had

How hard have you driven your clutch? Have you ever overheated it to the point of slippage? If so you might of warped your pressure plate. In this case replacing your clutch would fix this. That and check your shifter end bushings, (under the stock air intake tube) pull out the pin and the washer and check them out. I recently replaced mines with solid bushings and the oem bushings are weak to say the least.

Omg, yeah, I don't think you can bump that out. Was the $670 for a new bumper? If so I wouldn't go trough the insurance with that. If you do your more likely to end up paying more if your rates go up. Go to the classifieds on yoursciontc.com, clubsciontc.com, and here. You might get lucky and fine someone who is parting out their car. You'd end up spending a fraction of the costs.

^^ True, yeah I have a $500 deductible w/ Geico so I was just gonna take care of it myself anyways - but yeah I'll definitely look into the classified areas of those forums..The actual cost of the bumper wasn't bad $220.00 but where they kill you is the cost of paint $115.00 and Paint Labor $202.40 + parts labor, etc. etc. = 670 lol..

Well, I had something like this happen to me. I was in a parking lot and someone hit my car and drove off. I got a police report and everything but they have no way of telling who it was. I talked to my insurance company and they said that since I have a police report saying it wasn't my fault then my rates won't go up. Also since it was less than $1000 (barely) then my rates wouldn't go up even if it was my fault. All I had to do is pay my deductable ($250) and it was fixed. Since your deductable is pretty much the same price as it is going to cost to fix it, you might as well just not even report it to your insurance and fix it yourself when you get the money.

i recently bought a used tc and it has about 35000 miles on it and i noticed this morning that when i tried to put it into reverse the gear grinded i was certain that the i pressed the clutch all the way down so i let go and pressed it down again (double clutching it) and then it went in fine.... I'm a bit worried, should I just go buy a new clutch and have it installed an does anyone know what that might run me for the install? I havent noticed any real slippage in driving but i'm a new manual driver so i'm not the best to say for certain any suggestions would be very helpful
