New TRD Oil Filter
So I know Toyota Oil Filters are the best for us Tc Owners to use but what are your thoughts about the new TRD il Filter

Description:
NEW !! TRD High Performance Oil Filters incorporate state-of-the-art design and materials offering superior protection. The filter uses 3 plies of 100% synthetic glass/polyester blend filtration media that 98% efficient at 20 microns - that's smaller than pollen. Built with a heavy-duty pressure valve that allows oil flow during cold starts, a high temperature anti-drain back valve that retains oil in the filter to prevent dry starts, and a ported and polished backplate provides smooth oil inlet holes reducing oil restriction. For 4 Cylinder Engines.

There has been a TRD filter available for the xB as long as I have owned mine. I upgraded to one with my first 4 free oil changes. Dont expect to tell a difference...ever. It is still just a oil filter. Its nice to have and say you have, but I dont see it ending up on anybody's mod list.
i currently have the old style trd oil filter (the white one with red TRD logo). you wont feel a difference with it but it is technically better for the motor. again, nothing you'll notice. i just buy it because its not much more expensive than the stock, and it's nice to say i have it. my next oil change will be using the new black TRD filter. doubt i'll feel a difference but if i do, i'll post about it.
This looks like a Champion Labs filter. They also make the K&N oil filters. It's not the same filter though. The big difference being the filter media. K&N uses cellulose, while this uses synthetic glass/polyester with a mesh support to prevent the filter from coming apart.
The 98% efficiency at 20 microns tells me the TRD was designed with flow as a primary concerned. There are other filters that will filter better. Like the PureOne oil filter scores a 99.9% efficiency at 20 microns, but it will probably be on the restrictive side as far as oil flow goes. Then there's, perhaps the best and most expensive filter out there, the Amsoil filter. It scores a 98.7% efficiency at 15 microns, plus it's supposed to have a good flow rate.
IMO if you drive your car real hard the TRD filter will suit you better, as starving an engine of oil is a lot more harmful than letting a few particles through. If you're an average to "spirited" driver the OEM or other quality filter (PureOne) will suit you better.
