I noticed yesterday for the first time after three months that my car made a slight high pitch sound as I accelerated. It may have always been this way, don't know, but I had the stereo off and it just sounded funny. This normal?

 

You got the A-Spec... with the intergrated super charger. *lol*

You might want to take it in for service.

I believe that the post I saw once..was about an aftermarket intake..that made a funny noise when accelerating.

 

I get the same high pitched squeel when I accelerate... it's not very loud, but noticable. I thought this was normal?

 

Maybe it is normal, don't know, this is my first new car. Last one was in poor shape, so I don't use that experience to judge anything.

 

i think it's normal... well, i guess it is.. i had the same question, but i didn't know how to explain it. after all, there are a lot of different noises when you accelerate. i notice it the most in first and second. i guess in 4th and 5th, i'm going a little too quickly and the road noise drowns it out.

another thing was maybe that it was the intake sound? i had a crappy car before where i just heard the engine thumping.

 

Yeah, you got the rare turbo version.

Actually it's electrical interference with the radio. My mom's Lexus does it, my dad's Lexus does it, and my car does it.

 

yup it's like a high pitched hiss.. from what i've gathered.. it's the air rushing into the air intake manifold.. depending on throttle position you can hear it..

other's have said it's vacuum pressure.. from reading the service manual about the features of the car, the air intake was tuned differently than the camry and the air baffles were changed.. i think that would cause the high pitch noise.. don't worry we all have it.. it's normal..

 

is ur tC a 5spd??? if it is then its ur intake...cuz i got that too...you shouldnt worry about it too much..thats nothing bad

 

mine is a 5sp too...and it does make a high pitch noise when i step on the gas...i don't know..i thought it sounds kinda cool LOL

 

Most of the tCs on this board make that sound, but usually it's coming from the owners' mouths. (I kid, I kid...)

Yeah, it's the intake. Mine has always done that. It sounds like the HKS intake on my Mazda. I'm guessing they wanted it to sound like a cold air intake so they designed it that way.

I dont know about u guys but its more like a silent bov with a churp sound i gueess at certain rpms if you go check it out...anyway if it is the same things pm or post back so we can figure this out..

it's the intake, or at least that's what everybody said. Don't worry, everybodys' do that, it's just that ONLY SOME noticed that tho, i noticed it about two months later. lol

It is coming from your OEM air intake....when you step on the gas its pulling in more air the whistle comes from the air traveling at speed into your intake....its common more with cars using an aftermarket intake or a more open intake.
