View Full Version : Put on my K&N Filter this past week...... jeems 03-16-2008, 08:09 PM and I've noticed decreased gas mileage and no increase in acceleration or actually any positive results. Any idea why? agentorunge 03-16-2008, 10:51 PM you've just been on the gas a bit harder probably to hear the sound. i got one in too and removed my snorkel. did it like 2 tanks ago and didn't necessarily see any gains in mpg yet. jeems 03-16-2008, 11:13 PM nope cause i haven't heard a sound difference either! Sciond 03-16-2008, 11:22 PM the difference it very small.... agentorunge 03-17-2008, 12:31 AM i removed the snorkel and dropped in the k&n at the same time, so i guess thats why i noticed the sound difference. jeems 03-17-2008, 05:09 AM what do you mean removed the snorkel. what is this snorkel you speak of? agentorunge 03-17-2008, 05:27 AM http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=166146&highlight=snorkel+removal very long thread, but its pretty much that bottom pipe that leads into the stock airbox that you dropped the k&n into. its only screwed on by a bolt near you front headlight. then pull off the snorkle from the airbox, grab it by the skinny part, found it to be the easiest. you'll just have to figure that out. but it just pulls out, its very simple. bB2NER 03-18-2008, 05:37 AM Yeah, remove the snorkel so the airbox can breath better. Then pull the ECU fuse for 10 minutes and replace so the computer can relearn how to run with the new upgraded airbox. Then you will see the better mpgs. Anytime you upgrade or change anything it's a good idea to reset the ECU. mrsocks 03-24-2008, 11:54 PM i switch to K & N in everything i can and as soon as possible. performance is why. they are not really cheaper (overall). they let more dirt in (more air = more dirt). they let more gas in (more air = more gas), more air/fuel = more power. anyway, most of the performance mods seem negligible considering that they increase at a percentage and percentages of 100hp don't really add up for the bucks spent. it is FUN though and that is why i continue! thanks! mrsocks 03-24-2008, 11:55 PM hey bBtuner.....would the ECU reset if the battery were unhooked for a similar period of time? jeems 03-25-2008, 12:05 AM where IS the ECU fuse anyway? bB2NER 03-25-2008, 03:53 AM hey bBtuner.....would the ECU reset if the battery were unhooked for a similar period of time?I think you can but then your clock and radio stations will need to be reset. The fuse is in the box under the hood drivers side. agentorunge 03-25-2008, 04:09 AM where IS the ECU fuse anyway? refer to this thread. its in the tech section. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=33062 mrsocks 03-25-2008, 04:51 AM thanks bB....just wonderin' 'cause last dealer trip (at 30k) i KNOW they had the battery unhooked and since then the thing has run the best that it has since brand new. again...thanks for the info! bB2NER 03-25-2008, 06:22 AM NP, the fuse should be clearly marked in the fuse section of the owners manual. |
