the test tones are free. go to harbor and frieght buy a cheap multimeter for like 10 bucks. if i find were i got my test tones ill post it up...try check caraudio.com/forums and check the amplifier section
You can use the multimeter method, or just to tide you over, put in a 50Hz test tone, turn the HU up to 3/4 volume (or until you begin to hear distortion), back the head unit down one notch at a time til distortion disappears, and then turn up the gain on the amp until you reach the desired subwoofer level.
The DMM method is just to ensure you're getting ALL the amp has to offer on tap.

Speaker. When your speakers distort, turn the volume down on the HU until it disappears, and then go to your amp and turn up (or down) the gain until the subwoofer volume level is right where you want it.
Haha, you mean the sub was too loud? If so, turn down the gain on the sub amp and try again. Just be thankful you aren't adjusting the front stage gains... I put a 1Khz tone through that in order to set it, talk about DEAFFF!
well i bought this multi meter from checker. http://www.partsamerica.com:80/Produ...goryCode=3389B
but i have no idea which setting to put it to.
