View Full Version : Getting an xA this week ^^

Hi everyone~ First time poster here! I've already scoured all over the forum and tech section so all there is left is to say hello and thank you for all the great information posted in this site, it really has given me confidence in purchasing and maintaining an xA.

I just have a few more questions before I go and grab those keys I've so wanted for the last 2 months :D

About the break in period, I've heard about running it hard for the first 20 miles and doing an oil change to expel any loose metal bits. Do you think it's recommendable or should I just stick to the old slow and easy method?

I also plan to lower the car very soon once I get it, but there are so many models to choose from. The drop I'm looking for is around 1.4 in the front and 1.0 in the back so the ideal one I've seen would be the Tien S. or maybe the Eibachs. Any recommendations there? and which site would be a great place where I can get some good prices for them? (not ebay =p)

About the AC problem in the earlier models, has it been remedied in the later 05 models or do I have to follow one of the tech faqs here for a DIY fix?

blah~ so many questions! Thanks to everyone who read this, I really appreciate it!

the tein S-techs are great, but they lower it a lil more than you may like, 1.7in at each corner. I (and many others on here) have the teins and they're wonderful. haven't heard much about Eibachs. Also keep in mind that your shocks aren't gonna last as long with the lowering springs, just to letchya know.
As far as I know the AC hasn't change for xA for 2005 models, but may be wrong.
For the break-in, i just kept it slow and easy, i don't know if a certain method is better or not.
congrats and good luck on your xA! :D

Thanks guys! I just sold my car this weekend for $7100 and will probably use 6k for the down payment and the rest on a few nice mods and tools to install them ^^ Some of the faqs here are really great and pretty easy to do (even for the less mechanically inclined i.e. me)

I've already ordered the xA, polar white with matched spoiler :D I also ordered he tein springs and Eibach tower bar (seems so much easier to install them together and save myself some head scratching)

How about the rear? Is the drop the same all around? I'm mainly asking this because I want the front to be slightly more agressive than the rear.

Pretty sure the Teins lower 1.7in for both front and back.

Most springs seem to lower the back a little more than the front, to keep the car even. I don't know of any that lower the front more than the back.
Hopefully someone will post that'll know for sure.
hope this helps some! :D

Thanks for the info :D

Seems like my car might be delayed since there aren't anymore Polar White xA's at any dealership ;_; (which is odd since I live in CA) but I'll be getting one fresh off the factory port in a few weeks with a few extra add ons like a moonroof and possibly matching white bumper moldings :D

took me three weeks to get my PW from the port. . . nice choice in color, btw.

Not really, I'm pulling a few strings to have them done at the factory instead of doing them myself. It's not set in stone though so I'll have to wait and see what happens :D
