Default quick question about brakes (brake noob)

i really didnt know where to post this but... is the bigger line the actual brake line? and what happens if i disconnect it to get the caliper off? can i just simply re-attach it or does it mess up the brakes or what?

Im pretty sure thats the brake fluid line, why do you need to take the entire caliper off? painting it?

im sure youd just have to flush the line and refill it, then reconnect
dont take my word for it though

yeah u take that off and you might have to drain the line and refill. You dont want air in the line. If you're painting the caliper you can take it off but keep the line attached...tape and cover ur wheel well properly with news paper, get a wire hanger and hang the caliper on the cars spring and paint away. It comes out perfect. I used VHT caliper paint and everyone thinks i paid someone to paint my calipers for me.

dont do it man.
its suck a PITA.
i disconnected mine to paint my calipers and wish i didnt, just wrap everything down there up with newspaper and paint em on the car.
otherwise youll have to bleed the brake lines cuz there will be air in there and your brakes wont work, if your a brak enewb like you said def. dont disconnect it.
im not a noob and disconnected mine, we had to go around the car 3 times b4 the brakes were completely bled.

you could always just take it to a shhop too and have it power bled, but if you r brakes arent working well id really recommend that you dont try to drive there.
