Go for it!

Isn't autocross a ball?

In my region, there are two Scions at most - my XA & a clean Silver TC

Show them Scions aren't all trailer queens!

I did forget my exhaust, I put it on Saturday, race was Sunday :)

I finishe dmiddle of the pack, which I think is a pretty good showing as it was my first time.

I plan to give em hell!

LOL, next time u should take out ur sound system and all the crap in the trunk, IE sparetire, tools, carpeting, etc

im pretty sure it would help you a lot!

I did remove my sub and Amp, I didn;t want to leave my jack and spare tire at home, just inc ase, but next time I will deconstruct the trunk.

This was more of a baseline run, I'll probably strip down the car a little more next time.

Glad to see you had a good time.

Just quick pointers though, if I might be so bold-

-You're set up very well for STS. Might be your advantage to stick with that class.

-However, the Ingalls Stiffy boots you out of the class... by strict letter of the "law".... Just keep note of it, in the case someone starts _____ing.

-Also, you can remove your spare, but no interior pieces. So leave the seats in, leave the styrofoam bits in, and have at it!

-If you want to keep the stiffy for sure, then consider the FSP class. You can do more in that class, but you lose the PAX advantage of STS, and are more likely to get beaten up on by some serious machines.

----------

Don't let me scare you. I'm always ecstatic to see more autocrossers... and this addiction will serve you well :) .. I just want you to think about what it'll take to maximize your advantage within the rules

Happy crossing!

Thanks for the info, the tech guys were pretty clueless as to where our cars should go (a buddy with a nearly identical '05 was with me) so they jsut defaulted us to CMT which is where most of the cars wound up that day. It's also where the 40 second neons were running. I'll definately shoot for STS next time, I'm not above taking the stiffy off if I have to.

I'll put myself there next time and see what happens.

double check the rules...I'd swear I saw an STS car with a stiffy...

According to the SCCA '08 rules:
Engine mount modifications are allowed as long as they are not replaced with metal material (IE rubber replaced with Poly)
It does not mention bracing, or additional mounts.

Does anyone know what CMT translates to?

Thanks for the info!

with SCCA, if they don't say you can do it, you can't

Ok so I figured a few things out.

CMT is a regional "Open" stock class. Which is why I could not find it on the SCCA's website. The stiffy bumps me out of STS, but as long as I run regional events I can leave the stiffy on, plus strip down my intertior and run an LSD (which I don't have right now)

To run STS I need to pull the Stiffy and leave the interior as is, would I also have to go back to stock wheel/tire size? I'm not opposed to this as the Enkie's are big and heavy.

Fortunately I have two sets of stock wheels/tires (Detroit roads suck ___) so I could get one set switched over to some Falkens for racing and still run the Enkie's for cruising/show.

I guess it comes down to how many SCCA runs vs regional runs I want to make, I still haven't figured out the full season schedule yet.

Thanks for all the input guys!
