my dealership wants $579 for labor and $199 for the TRD lowering springs. that sounds a little steep to me. What did you guys pay? What are some alternatives (or is it worth losing the warranty and getting some other springs at a place that will install it cheaper?)

I was quoted for about the same price from the dealership and i fell in and had them do it. I ended up not liking the drop and ride of the trd springs so i sold them really cheap. I ended up losing a lot of money for that...errr :x ....but oh well. I now have tanabe DF210 springs which i really like. The drop is more aggressive.

Do them yourself. They take about 2 hours to install with simple handtools and a buddy. There's a tech page on here on how to do it. Very simple.

labor shouldnt be more than 100-200 dollars IMO. but if you think that you have a high chance of actually messing up ur springs(like maybe ur area has crappy roads) then i guess do it at the dealership just to put ur mind at ease, knowing that ur covered.

If your in Nor Cal/Sacramento area, go to Darren (hotbox05). He installed my TRD springs for 50 bucks, the same thing he's offering to everyone. Great guy and did a great job.

as scary as messing with springs can be to some people - on this particualr car - someone brain dead could do it. As mentioned, there are instructions on here in the tech section - print them out. Even if you have to buy the tools for it - you'll still come out A LOT cheaper than paying the dealer. 2 hours - MAXIMUM! .. take longer than that and you're just not trying. After one set, you could install them again (if you had to) in 1/4 the time. 'Learning Curve'.

DO NOT pay the dealer to do it. Complete waste of your money. By now, those techs in back are probably changing xB/xA/Echo springs in 20 minutes, they've done it so many times by now. It's not hard.

How many inches of a drop did the tanabe's give? any pics? anyone else have any suggestions for some springs with a 1.5-2 inch drop?

I got my TRD springs from Ken at Spark's Scion for $151and installed them myself.

On the xA getting the front strut assembly back on was a bit tough but a spring commpressor would solve that (I didn't have one). The rears took 20 minutes.

on an xa tanabes will be like 2.0 in the front and like 1.7 or 1.8 in the rear. best springs imo

They take 40 mins max to this this with a friend. I had no idea what I was doing, he had done it on his box a couple days before. It was really really easy, do it yourself and use the 5 hundo for a nice mod.

did mine today... save your money and do it yourself. You can do alot with 500 hundred dollars.. Also, I did a lot of research and ended up with the Tanabe df210's. They have a nice drop and ride well. It really depends on what you are looking for.. Ask around on this site. Everyone is really helpful. They will give you the good, bad, and the ugly:).

lol. yeah nice n brutal sometimes. lol. but yeah try and do it yerself . ya know anyone with any auto experience? very very easy. worth savin the 500 even if it takes you 2+ hours

Actually, I did mine by myself. It was pretty hard, I wont lie about that. Still only took me about 1 1/2 hours.
