My tc setup:
-Megan Header
-Injen CAI
-Megan Catback
The problem actually started when I came back from school, the car sat there for about 6 months with battery unplugged. When I rev up beyond 3k rpm, I notice a heavy rasp sound that never existed before I went to college 6 months ago. And it happens in every single gear as well. On top of that, if i floor it, it also rasps. I've tried to tiden up the exhaust system and even reinstalled the catback and it is still the same.
Im guessing that some of you guys have the same problem and I can't seem to find a post that discusses it but if there is already one then I apologize for not searching hard enough. =P

 

Areo 25 resonator seems to be the most popular fix.

 

this is true... but also SEARCHING can solve the problem too...

 

I have the same exact problem with rasp and it sucks. It only happens after 3000 rpm. I have tightened everything numerous times and it still does it. So it still happens when you put the stock midpipe back in? Im going to trade my midpipe for a stock one to see if it fixes it.

 

search guys, its a very comin problem with the tc. exhaust plus headers equals rasp. even with a mid pipe.. you need to get a nothing res welded in to your mid.. and if you have a stock mid.. get a new one and weld a res in to that.

 

I already have another resonator welded into my midpipe. My setup is dme header, stock midpipe no cat with mini resonator and stock resonator.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Yes my midpipe is stock. I tried putting on my silencer today that came with the catback and can still hear the rasp which is louder than anything else now so i took it off.. lol.. maybe a resonator will solve the problem but my concern is that why all of a sudden my exhaust is making that noise. is it because the car sat there for so long and collected too much dust?? cuz my car was setup the same exact way for like a year and never had that sound.

 

you need a nice looooooooong resonator, not some shorty. Or you can put the stock header back in. Even with only header and stock exhaust, you'll hear the rasp, though not as much.

 

so the stock resonator with stock cat is not good enough to cut out the rasp? That sucks! Should I take off the stock cat and stock resonator and replace it with a muffler or just a huge resonator?

 

I think i might have found out the problem. I'll keep you guys updated. Gonna do a few things tomorrow to it but not certain that it will work. Thanks for all the replies.

 

the midpipe is definitely not enough to cut out the rasp. if it was, we wouldn't of had 50 threads a day on this very problem. high flow cat, and i've actually heard that having more shorter resonators like 2 20" instead of having 1 long one works better.
